I never got the mod done - I did it myself. I saw some macros of Smokes mod - the attention to detail and quality of finish would have made most 8 year olds blush. But for whatever reason it was all the rage - in part because he said he had some kind of secret formula using a discontinued paint. All complete bollocks.
Anyway - the moral is that we should stop putting modders and con artists on some kind of pedestal. On occasion they are the same thing and when that happens people get burned.
It’s not helpful to the community when a couple of random ex customers come out in defence of them - as any individual or business can only be judged by their recent dealings.
Similar shit when YourWatch got the boot - “nooo you can’t ban them as I’m still waiting on an order worth $6k.” Fucksake - you just put $6k through a probationary dealer??

This deserves to get a bump up to keep it fresh on everyone's attention. Any positive movement for those affected, or at least any communication? I was dreaming that he would make a new year's resolution to resolve outstanding work, either straight refund, or communicate the status and estimated completion time frame.

Kudos to you, I am pretty patient business wise, I understand that sometimes, despite best efforts, things can and do go wrong
However, in this case, taking more and more money on this scale, from honest folks before completing a bunch of outstanding work is nothing other than robbery / theft / scamming call it what you will.
I'm sorry to say it but even from the UK, I'd have paid a visit now and told him his options, this OASCOM twat disgusts me

Ive purchased several pieces from him in the past and every one came with buyer's remorse because 1) it was outrareously expensive compared to same dial capabilities in China and 2) It always took 10 months to receive the build and you essentially are "just over it" by the time it comes. There was never a doubt, however, in his watchmaking capabilities even touted by other trusted watchmakers and he ALWAYS delivered after his ridiculously self-fabricated wait time. That's because he'll work on a dozen pieces for his own self-interest or testing a new dial before he picks up a project that someone prepaid for. His business model always pissed me off. Today I dont have one piece he ever made for me, sold them all, and dont have the patience to buy into his overhyped bullshit. I probably would be a customer if he didnt take money upfront and had more reasonable prices....aventurine and meteriorite really isnt special......200 dials same quality elsewhere. Sorry Pat.....its just facts.
After pointed out here by others I've looked at a number of his pieces now and I honestly think the Chinese ones at 1/10 the price have markedly better dial print.
