I'll use whatever I can fucking get in order for these goddam hands to STAY WHERE I PUT THEM!
Well, take it easy @davelister - I attended that ritual a couple of times - when I was a bit younger - and the second time I went, I left with a dislocated right buttock.
Took me a week before i could sit properly at the bench again.

Don't muck about with this stuff.

”The Price of the Oascom dial when sold was $1100. Since then, he has sold his dials for $1500 +, So I have added that $400 to the cost of this dial due to its rarity and the fact that I just spent $1500 for three dials from him.”

wtf lol

Why is everyone struggling to set hands???

Setting hands is an easy, serene part of a rebuild/ service.
It's easy. Just take your bloody time. If you're in a rush - you will blow it.
You have to focus.
Tweezers holding the hand in question in your dominant hand (be it right or left-handed) - and hand-setting tool in the other. Ready to gently press down.
Press gently, take your time.
Look across the dial and ascertain hand posture from pivot to end - and adjust as necessary - (look at the shadow cast by it on the dial) and waggle it up or down to make sure it floats equally along it's entire length equdistant to the face of the dial.

Setting hands is the icing on the cake after you've done the heavy bit - which might be a full service of some dodgy cheap movement - or then again - might be that you've had a nice time stripping and cleaning an gen ETA 2824.
Why are people struggling with this?

I actually found a tiny bit of rodico is better than the tweezers for setting most hands. I agree with everything else, especially the gently part (if they aren't going down easily STOP.) Hand swapping for me can be done in under 30 minutes and I wouldn't consider myself a professional.

@Oascom

Care to comment about why you have ghosted our members for weeks/months?

What excuse is it this time...

All this distraction is probably suiting you, but I am focused.

I detest scammers, with a passion, and if you take someones hard earned money and then make them beg for a completed job, and/or updates, it's disgusting & the lowest of the low.

How dare you.

please insert excuse here....

🤯

That’s the reason @Oascom takes so much time to ship.
He is stuck deciding between tweezers and Rodico…

🤔

nah, just that @Oascom has zero respect for customers and tried to take big money without delivering…

mods breathing down his neck is the only reason we see some watches going out

We are not talking about a few reps worth here, but probably above a hundred thousand dollars conservatively…

....too busy curating his Instagram page. Last update was December 7th.

And I despise scammers as well. At the end of the day we are only as good as our word and our reputation. I am not familiar with Instagram, but I'm surprised there's not been any references to all of his financial issues. Is it something he can block or remove or just no one has posted?

I know.....his dog ate his homework

Imagine a selling platform on which you can delete comments and block paying customers for raising concerns. Instagram removes seller accountability.

He built his initial business / reputation / customer base off the back off the replica community and now basically can get customers without RWI and Reddit, removing some level of accountability he has, that's what the Instagram is for.....

This is probably bad advice for fancy rep hands that you don’t want to damage, but this is what I do for my cheap seiko mod hands. I’ll smush a ball of rodico on the sloped end of a wooden dowel, use my non-dominant hand to stick the rodico to the watch-hand lengthwise, and then place/steady the watch-hand on the post. With my other/dominant hand, I’ll then press the watch-hand on to the post.

For setting the seconds hands, I smush the smallest bit of rodico under the hand press tool and use that to pick up the seconds hand. Then it is easy to line up and set the hand on the post. Don’t push too hard or you’ll bend the hand.

November 7 he told me he has my watch and dial ready and he only needed to assemble it together.

It’s been 6 weeks since that email and the responses since from then til now he keeps saying it will be done soon

I’m not a watchmaker but I assumed it only takes around 20-30 minutes to change a dial over?
I just sent an email asking for a refund again. It will be the third time asking.
Did he really have the watch and dial ready from when he replied on November 7th?

Part of the reason why I initially made this purchase was because he told me it would take 2.5 months. It’s now getting close to 6 months and the events I would wear the watch have passed
