In these pictures no. This was a quick fitment check. I will be installing the metal gasket as there is room for it, the case work is properly done to receive this gasket.
Ok good to know.
Looks like I’ll be getting KJ’s eBay tube since my 5330 didn’t come with that metal gasket.

@lawlessflyer

Is there a gasket between the tube and the case?

Both this Ebay tube and the ST tubes come with the metal gasket that goes between the tube and the case.

What crystal should I use for this case? 25-295-C2? And what about gasket height? Thanks.
Yes you can use that one if you want to be period correct and have no AR no LEC.

You can also use a B25-295-CAR-C1 which has AR underneath the cyclops (and LEC). You could even use the newest B25-7035-1-C1 for 126710s which has AR on the entire underside.

I recently swapped in the B25-295-CAR-C1 to my 1989 gen 16710 and the difference is huge. Ofc it's not period correct but it can always go back. I've owned the watch since it was new and have no intention to ever sell it.

As far as gasket height, I always recommend having several different heights on hand and doing a test fit to get the best level of date mag. The gen 16710 takes a 2.7mm gasket, but I found that height to produce a date mag that was too big on the Ebay model. I ended up using a 2.5mm gasket. I take pics with different gaskets to compare them side by side before pressing a crystal retaining ring permanently.

When doing these pictorial comparisons, start by setting the scale using the cyclops edges. Then you can slide individual pics around to compare elements like date window and numeral size.

You can also make a custom height gasket if a fixed size does not look right with your chosen crystal.

I like your style. I treat my classic watches, like my classic cars. Build what you think is hot ... It's not quite period correct but ..

@KJ2020 that’s interesting about the date mag. I’ve got a 2.7 ring, I think I’ll order a 2.5 with Clark’s AR Crystal. I’ve got a gen 16700 with an AR Crystal and looks awesome.

Another question is about the crystal retaining ring, the bezel, the bi-directional click spring and that flat washer. How do they all go together. I can’t seem to find any diagram for a 16710 showing it.

Same as the sub - just replace the click spring in diagrams you see

Crystal retaining ring > tension ring / flat washer > click spring > bezel ring

Thanks, I’m mostly GMT guy

Something that makes the assembly easier is to put the tension ring (washer) into the bottom of the bezel after the insert is installed. Then thread the click in between the washer and the insert as you pull the bezel back into position to snap it home.

Especially with rep or aftermarket parts, fitment can be less than ideal and parts can get jammed up during a re-install.

Only way to do it right! 👍

The Clark's gaskets are very close to gen-spec which means slightly thicker than many rep gaskets. Depending on which retaining ring you buy you may have to shave the gasket width a little to get the retaining ring to seat. It's easy to do, there is info about it in the thread below.

Anyone know the cousins part number for their 2.7 gasket?

Any ideas for a rep SuperLume handset? Gen hands are so expensive for the gmt/explorers. More than dials in many cases.

I used a set of WSO hands on one of my builds. I will try to remember to share a photo comparing against my gen build.

The explorer has gen hands
The gmt master has WSO hands $23
Pretty much no lume on the WSO ones. The seconds hand from WSO had a super long shaft on it and pressed fully down is still sitting way too high. I guess I will have to remove and file it down. If I try cutting it shorter it will probably pinch the tube.

Bracelet is from a VRF sub. From memory my BP explorer, gibault, and Italian gmt bracelet don’t fit as well with the SEL. Although this has a pretty recessed SEL but looks ok to me.
