I managed to grab an eBay case, pretty happy with it except it won’t easily fit a solid end link bracelet, one of the holes is a little off.

I’ll be looking forward to getting another case some day for an explorer build.

The holes were off on my case, too. To make a solid-end link bracelet fit, I slightly opened up the holes in the bracelet's solid-end links and bent the spring bars. It fit perfectly

It’s the closest we have.

Swap tube and crown for gen.

It’s quite impossible on that stock dude because the tube that he use is bigger than gen, so there is not material to make a gen spec theard if someone want to do it.

Other than this he make a large hole and put a rubber gasket between tube and case, that is faraway from gen.

However you are able to send him parts and he can developed on parts that you sent to him.

That’s exactly things need to be done mate. I’ve done some project in the past using ebay/german case and on all of them i need to bent a bit the bracelet and also the springbars and shave a bit the holes on SEL bracelet version. Can be easily on NOT SEL vesion

Repost from a previous entry:

Update concerning SEL

We've all experienced SEL issues and many of us have tried some various techniques to improve a look. I'd like to share a few things I learned over the years that might help others improve their look.

I'm making a 16713 with my case and finally have all the parts now but the bracelet I was going to use was a Noob TT and the gold didn't look so great. I had tried an ARF 116613 TT bracelet previously (a real beauty) but didn't get a good fit straight away.

So today I had another go at it and after trying a bunch of different springbars and some tape and bending and sanding mods, I was able to achieve a nice result.

The ARF bracelet will take a 2.0mm springbar but on the shoulderless bars the tips are too big to both fit in the lug holes and extend fully. I had used a 1.5mm bar with about 6 layers of narrow bracelet tape on one long axis for the Noob and it was a reasonably decent fit. This technique allows you to force the bar to one side of the SEL hole (raising the SEL up), and makes the fit solid. It also provides smaller diameter tips that can fit into the lug holes without having to be centered.

So with that in mind, I wondered if a 2.0mm springbar with shoulders and a smaller diameter tip would at all be feasible. The ARF SEL hole was big enough to also fit one layer of tape which would serve the two purposes mentioned above.

The springbars I used were from ST, the part number is on the bag. These are very nice, solid and strong.

You can stick tape on the bar right from the roll and cut off the excess.

So on the initial fit attempt there was some rotational play in the SEL that created a little gap to the case if the bracelet was pulled down. Two layers of narrow tape on this vertical part of the case lip fixed that.

Then both sides of the bar tips wouldn't go in the holes because the bottom of the SEL was pushed back a little. So I bent the tip a little but even that wasn't enough.

So I began sanding a little of the tip off from the backside to let that tip extend into the hole. After a few attempts, it worked.

Now everything fits tightly and the SEL recess is OK.

With a little tinkering and some simple mods you can often make some substantial improvements.

I’ve seen others replace the tube, countersink and retap so “impossible” it is not.

Don’t know about it mate, but he said that the tube that i send him was too small (a gen spec one) compared with the tubes that he put on the case as standard.
Other than this he send me some pictures on the case where is a “huge” deep hole to accept a rubber gasket between case and tube.
So you can’t fit for sure a gen spec metal gasket bewteen case and tube with this kind of work because the hole he usually made is too deep.

First pic Biviet case, second “ebay/german” gen spec case.

I’m just saying that I have for sure seen someone remove the Bivintage tube. Countersink the case and add a new tube.

I have done 1/2 a dozen builds with Bivintage cases with zero issues and adding gen parts to them.

6mm crowns are dodgy because the aftermarket ones come in two different sized tubes, one gen-like, the other wider diameter. Depending on what your case maker uses you might find yourself in a position where you can't use a gen tube.
Normally bivintage case sets accept genuine tubes and other parts, but this could not be the "case" (excuse the pun ;))

Exactly! Unfortunally in my case he want to use his big tubes that means that in the future i can’t fit a gen tube because with his tube he put a not-gen rubber gasket system under the tube.

Anyway just need to send him the tube, and specify how he need to work that part of the case to be the same as genuine, as always i had done :)

However freshly built from yesterday evening! Happy new year at all of you guys! :)
