Yup, Romans were surprisingly tiny as well. With Emperor's head on it, representing their ego, I imagined it would be at least wall-clock size. LOL

I think Jeff's coin is definitely British. Did a bit of search and British gold coins (Henry, Edward, James, etc etc) have this distinct patterns of knotted dots around the center figure and letters on the outer edge. ;-D

I purchased these years ago but have not done much research. I would like to find what it is.

It could be Jeffy, Pirates stole money from everyhere, and even here in the States, in its infacny, we used british, spanish and mexican money. I dont think we made our own real money till the late 1780s,and befor tha we was british colonys

Look at these. First one is Spanish and the second is Scottish. There are some resemblance to your coin

Look at these. First one is Spanish and the second is Scottish. There are some resemblance to your coin

I wish the writing was clear enough to make a determination on what the coin is. It's a total mystery.
