Just respond with a question. "What do you think?" Let them answer there own stupid question. If there rude with there answer then the door is open to be rude in return. If there polite same applies. If they don't answer let it go at that.

Job done!:)

Just make sure that those people don't know how much you earn. :D:

And if they already aware of your financial situation, why lie to them?

yeah IMO rep is those with quality, its not equal with fake watch.

i remember i used to reply
"fake? no its not, u can find this on the AD, BUT this one come just from different factory"
:) :) :)
and that is enough to em up and just admire my watch.
just don't know if this quite a nice reply or not.

Noob Factory rocks anyway.

I think spider and sanankid should mention whereabouts they reside, or in which social circle this occurred, because I believe significance can vary greatly by culture and society, for instance in my neck of the woods, pretty much these all mean the same thing to most everyone I know,

- fake
- rep, replica
- homage, inspired-by, in-the-style-of
- fugazi, fayuka, firulais
- knock-off, imitation
- copy, duplicate, look-alike
- mickey mouse, payless

And several others I'm sure I'm missing......

Fake = not real.
Replica = not real.
No any difference, all semantics.
Don't flatter yourself.

When they ask "if it's real" you could always just launch into a philosophical monologue on the nature of reality, that should drive 'em away.

...And maybe earn you some spare change from anyone within earshot who now thinks you're a rambling homeless person with a stolen watch.

I just say "Does it look fake to you?" and they get all confused and end up thinking it's real.

i would say: "yes, and it's got more craftsmanship than the one on your wrist."

As far as I'm concerned, a fake is something which is being passed off as genuine, where as a replica is something which appears to be the genuine article but isn't being sold as such.

The classic car scene in the UK pretty much uses this as a definition and it focuses on the intent to deceive.

My cobra replica was probably 85% 'as per gen', however, it could never be confused with an AC and I certainly wouldn't have tried to sell it on Ebay as anything other than a replica!

The 'fake' C and D type Jags you see which have been built up from wrecks, new parts and cloned chassis numbers and are then put up for sale as 'lost prototypes' are certainly fake!

Therefore, my watches are replicas as they look similar to the real thing but I don't try to pass them off as gen. If I listed one on Ebay as gen, it'd be a fake!

I do get asked occasionally by my friends if a watch I'm wearing is fake, it doesn't bother me and I don't think it's rude either. They know I like watches and have a bunch of gens and reps. They are amazed with the watch every time I tell them it's a fake. And yes, I use the term fake with them, I don't try to shove them down the throat the term replica.

For me, its more of the wearer and not the watch. So I always get reps that I can pull off given my current status. For example, I wont buy a RM or a PP.

Stick to those Rolex SS models, Brietlings, Omegas & Pams. So far so good for me! I have never been questioned before.

I agree big time. If my coworker saw me with an AP, PP, or too many SS Rolexes I would be called out big time. So my plan is Breitling (received), Rolex Explorer II, and Sub. I might add to my addiction for weekend only watches...

i feel like this topic is talked about a million times on this forum

if your wearing a rolex everyone and their mother is going to ask you if its real or fake. i had a gen sub when i was 18 passed down from my father do you think people who saw me thought it was real? NO only my close friends who knew my family knew the situation knew it was real. Point is if you wear a panerai, tag or even omega most people wont know if its a 100 to a 3000 dollar watch, only watch enthusiast like us would know which is alot less people than you think. Now if you wear a Rolex, cartier, even AP which are know to be expensive brands people are always going to doubt the authenticity regardless if its a rep or gen. so wear the watch proudly and let them think what they want when they ask.
