New setup:
1.8mm springbars; 2 shortened and straightened-out metal staple clips squeezed into each entrance of SEL "tunnel" (in total 2x2=4 staples for each SEL/lug combo) to hold springbar in place inside SEL tunnel (eliminating any play); additional small staple metal pieces placed inside lug holes (then moved into upper half with plier) in order to eliminate play here once the springbar pops in. Place metal piece in upper half of lug holes so that springbar pops into the lower half of lug holes, therefore sitting lower and hence increased recession effect.

Very pleased with result so far. No play at all and even bigger recession due to larger staple thickness.

Alignment of SEL curvature to lug curvature also improved (though not perfect) compared to 2.0mm springbar + aluminum foil setup.
Although i bet you find it very pleasing (i do too) this SEL recess is too much and not gen like.

It does look better imo. [emoji1]

Just a crazy idea...

Buy an anti reflective mobile phone screen protector. Cut out a square same size as the cyclops and stick it to the underside of the Crystal.

As your not taking out the crystal, should be an easy cheap experiment.

But as I'm typing, I'm thinking, it's the surface of the cyclops that's reflecting. So probably won't work!!!

Another post my app failed to show me before...

This is acually a great ideea.

But I think Rolex uses ar coating on both sides of the cyclops and on both sides of the crystal where the cyclops sits.

No, as a coating would have no effect there. The coating is like a translator between sapphire and air. So basically ar coating is applied wherever sapphire has contact to air.
rep crystals have the coating on top of the cyclops only, which reduces glare a bit, but not the reflections from the dial, which would give that distinctive black hole look :)
I'll post a picture about that when i find it [emoji1]

Sel looks really good.

So this is the plastic and grinding the springbars to achieve this?

Excellent result.

I don't think the black hole is a huge tell. Look at all the gen pics on TRF. The cyclop only black holes in certain angles. The rest look more or less the same.

The black hole is a massive tell mate. Honestly speaking from someone who has 2 yachtmasters side by side, one with gen dial, dw and xtal and one with TC dial, TC overlay and best rep xtal I could get, the tell is pretty obvious. It's beautiful one of the reasons I couldn't resist the franken route.

I'd even say is more obvious than the paint colour or sel on the V7.

This is from a thread on rwg:

So i guess that if i manage to appy ar under the cyclops, problem solved.

After some thought, i think that appling ar coating under the crystal will probably have no effect as there is little light comming from the dial.

You better read the whole thread and look at freddy333's pics to see confirmed what I said. AR is applied below the crystal. It will not have any effect if applied between the crystal and the cyclops!

I did nothing to the bezel teeth. That's how the watch came. The look dull from some angles and very shiny from others so you get a nice effect when tilting the watch.

It's with the 2mm springbars. Didn't have time to go and buy 1.8mm to make the change.

Besides the Sel a straight tell would be the cyclops (black hole effect) and the bezel teeth look.

The funny thing about the bezel teeth shine is that both me and my friend (gen owner) liked the v7 more.

What do you think?

About the video:

I've ordered a v7 from pt so it should be a v7.

Here is a pic of the bezel engravings:

Here is your v7
Now do you see why it looks like a v6s.
Our of all the v7 subs I've seen not one has this lug shape, apart from the sellers online that claim.they have the v7's.but I think they are using v6s subs with a v7 clasp for the pics.

Here is what i was able to achieve using the 2mm springbars. On one end i've slightly bent the springbar and grinded the pins and on the other end i've just sharpened the pins(ends) of it with a file.

Still better than what i originaly had but not as good as using thinner springbars imo. Comparing these pics with gen pics i have to admit it's pretty close but still i think i'll go back to my first method.

What do you guys think ?

Oh and also i've fixed the alignament issue of the dial:

Is this your pic op? If so I'm correct you have a v6s
The lugs are the giveaway if the rehaut engraving is not clearly visable .so guys that's a tip for you how to spot a v7 or v6s.so you accually get what your buy.and not something else.
