Q5 pointed out something recently. He suggested increasing the number of posts per page you can view. I changed mine to the highest (I think) setting of 40 per page. This thread is only 4 pages long for me.

The table of contents thing would be cool though.

Om3ga3_guy got the hand wind version I sold him. I think the chrono function might not be working like it's supposed to. Let's wait for his input but hopefully someone can help him sort it out since I don't know how they work. Maybe he can measure it for us too...

:picard2: Check a couple pages back.

There are answers to several questions earlier in the thread!

Post 135 has a link to case dimensions...

Also, as far as correct terminology for the hand wind movement... Are they actually Segull movements? I was just calling it Lemania because the rep dealers did.

It's a Sea-Gull ST-19, which is a copy of the Venus 175 movement. The Chinese had bought (yes, legitimately bought!) the design and tooling for this movement in the 1960s. Venus was later bought out by Valjoux, which was then absorbed by ETA and Swatch.

So what does this movement have to do with Lemania? Absolutely nothing, except that it sorta kinda looks like an Omega Cal.321/Lemania 2310. But then, so do about a dozen other column-wheel chronograph movements from the time...

Hey guys! So the manual wind (ST19) arrived yesterday. Wicked looking watch. The quality and build I have to say looks pretty good. Factory could have done a better job with the printing on the caseback but overall very nice. The subdials do actually have a very fine outline around them...I thought they were flat.

From an operational standpoint it holds good time. It appears to be loosing about 1 sec/ day. The real issue that Mark brings up is the chronograph. When I go to start it, the second hand will jump backwards a few second and begin counting. When I go to stop it the second will sweep forward like 15 or 20 sedonds and then stop. I start it again and it bounces backwards and then continues to count. What do you guys think is the problem? I was going to take it to Victor (RWI modder) today and have him check it. The watch does reset ok for the record. Ive had two St19s before and I never had this issue :s

As for dimensions:

Bezel diameter - 37mm
Case diameter with crown - 42mm

Yep, that's a different case than the one I had. The crownguards and caseback are clearly different. Here are pictures of the one I sold for reference:

Yours is a much better case. My cg's are totally off. The watch however wears very well...only problem like I mentioned is the chronographs messed up.

The movement issues wouldn't bother me at all (with a rep) because I never use the chrono function. Based on the differences though, I'm not sure now that the 34.0mm plexi will fit your watch. Minor things aside, you ended up with a great looking watch. I really like the black leather on there.

FOR ALL THOSE CONSIDERING A FRANKEN BUILD: Watchco recently posted several used gen Speedmaster cases on ebay with low opening bids. This might be a good opportunity to grab a case for your future build! Here is a LINK to all of Watchco's current offerings for US sale.

Re. The crystal, it's too big it won't fit. It's about 3mm too large in diameter.

That is clearly a different case than what all the TDs had a year ago. The plexi should literally fall into the bezel opening with no pressure. It almost looks like the smaller Speedy auto case has been used. This watch originally came from MR?

Yeah thats where Mark said he got it from. Looks like its not a good case for modding. Your almost better off finding the old school model you had :(

Its too bad, I was looking to franken the crap out of this thing...

I've been doing some research and I have to say that the hand wind model (which I have) really looks similar to the "reduced" model. The reduced model has a similar 39mm case, flatter crystal and further apart sub dials....anyone else notice these similarities with the "reduced" model and the ST19?

It even has the same "tachymetre" spelling without the accent. Only differences I'm find are the crown guardsand the left/ right dials are backwards...crystal appears to sit out further aswell.

Yeah, I made that observation earlier in this thread. The subdial spacing of the handwind rep is very close to the reduced gen.

Hey Mark - Is there any chance we could get some wrist shots of the 1171? From various angles?

I'm think about getting one. :)

OK so the first Tissot Movement I was looking at ended on ebay for around 450, the second one is already up to over 200. Darn this thread. LOL

:biglaugh:

on or off the watch?

On the watch if it's not a bother (something like mine below). I'm trying to figure out how similar the link size is to my 1479. Thanks Buddy!

EDIT: Alternatively, LHOOQ may have some as well.

I think it's pretty similar... I had these two already but I'll take some more tonight and post...

This is with it mounted on the quartz. It's on the 21j now which has a better dial...
