But all is not lost @manodeoro if you still want to go the Bart Cordell Negative Relief printing way. After all, this thread is about Bart's negative-relief method. My unsolicited advice:
1. Go for negative relief using your green and white pictures. The white will become gold when mounted on your brass or gold dial
2. Lose the red. It simply won't work. Change that to white.

Cool project, @manodeoro. You have Golden Hands, indeed! Just a heads-up from experience: inkjet ink is not as stable as laser printer's ink, and they have a tendency to bloat a tinny weeny bit. Just make sure your decal prints are air-dried and cured VERY well before you mount it on the dial so this doesn't happen. By the looks of it, though, I think your decal prints are not intended to go the Bart Cordell negative relief True-gilt printing, so you shouldn't have a problem particularly with the SWISS portion. Good luck on your project!

Thanks for your advice @thinwhiteduke
In fact my project IS from the beginning intended to go negative relief (I suscribed to Bart's thread since I joined his forum).
The "on gold" dial was just a print test to see what it could look like but I will print them on decal clear paper so the copper (or gold leafed) dial could be seen through the "white" parts (as white is NOT printed).
About the red printing ... if works on non glossy photo paper so let's say that I will try ... and change to white if it really doesnt work on decal paper.
Hope I cand do some printings this WE if I receive my decal papers in time.

First print test.
Sorry for the very bad quality pic but my wife stole my APN.
Just wanted to show how the red print works ... not bad at all.
I have prepared a copper sheet and received the decal papers so this WE ... final test.

Nice !
What printer do you use. Mine can't print small red text surrounded by black.

Canon Pixma IP7250.
I didnt try with black instead of green ... dont know if it could work.
In fact I saw you had some difficulties printing the 2000ft/600m in red, that's why I choosed to do the SUBMARINER that way (bigger font).
But this WE I'll try with 2000ft/600m on black (a 16800 COMEX dial for my elder son) ... and post the results of course.

Well this has inspired me to work on having a crack making a BC gilt dial ... well done all and thanks for the insights Bart. Brilliant work all around ... the whole lume idea is one still pondering .. here is my mock up dial working on a 5513 Tropical ..colored in for reference before I turn it back to white, still working on Fonts. Work on the texture as still getting a pattern bit work in progress

These dials look so good, considering it's a decal, what's the maximum ideal? What would make the dial look super crisp under high magnification? Just a better printer?

I'd like to try with a sublimation printer ... 9600/2400 dpi.
But it means :
- template done at 5000 dpi or more
- dial prepared with a polymerizing spray
and ... last but not least
- have a sublimation printer [emoji23]

Never. But It could be done on a white painted plate. Or white decals.

This is something I am also working out the details on ..thinking through, as well as using other techniques like crackling and chipping, texture .. Bart tip on ensuring the use of decal setting solution is critical. There is lots of potential using existing scale modeling paint techniques to dials I believe.

Reference for effects using decals and scale model weathering techniques
