hi guys
as i am going for a 4500 franken project i found a nice looking dial in my favorite color. unfortunately the back of the dial is not pictured hence i am hesitate. can someone help me identify if its gen?

merci!
I don't know if anyone can say for sure that this is a gen dial given the quality of the ZF, and the fairly low res photos supplied. I don't see any major tells suggesting it's a fake. Cross looks well defined and everything is aligned correctly.

Hi! I saw this was asked a few times already, but I don't think anyone has answered it yet.

Does anyone know how the black dial looks in comparison to the gen? I'm interested in getting the 4500v in black, but I was wondering if it'd be similar or close to the deep black the the gen dial has.

Got my watch resized today so I could finally wear it properly. It's a little too big for my 6" wrist, but I'm still happy with it!

4500v on rubber or 2000v might be a better fit for you.

Yeah, I'm thinking of getting a rubber strap down the line. Didn't want to get it when I got the watch since it was a bit expensive to add the rubber strap in.

How is the bezel attached to the case?

I want to buy one of these but since so many have bezels that need to be turned a little, I want to know if I can do it myself before I place an order.

It ain’t just the bezel on the ZF
You need to check the following during QC

1. Bezel alignment

2. Ask TD for a timegrapher check, many of these run low amplitude. Some people are rejecting 2-3 before they get a decent one. Likely a dirty / dry movement, not oiled and will most certainly need a complete service on arrival.

3. Date disk alignment - many examples run with the date too far left aligned in the window

4. Bracelet clasp. The twin trigger varies in quality, some people have had one of the triggers pop out. Ask the TD to check. Deploy dozens of times times to check correct .function

5. The friction extender length adjustment in the last link. This allows the bracelet to be extended slightly on both sides during hot weather. Wrist expansion. Some examples have a tight sliding adjuster and some are loose. It it’s loose it will extend out when you don’t want it to making the bracelet always bigger. Ask the TD to check - deploy it several times and check the function.

6. The VC cross below the 12 marker is often crooked. Check the alignment.

This is a great watch but it’s plagued by some of the above or all of the above minor / major issues. If you can live with them it’s a nice watch.

hoping that these issues has been fixed in the latest released by PPF as per Hont's post:

Another big steel watch king of PPF is coming. VC Vacheron Constantin Overseas 4500V series (one of the three steel kings in the watch industry) is the top luxury classic steel watch. The 41MM steel case has smooth lines and delicate texture, which can be perfectly connected with the bracelet. The Vacheron Constantin Maltese Cross logo is branded on the bracelet behind it, equipped with an anti-magnet device and a screw-in crown, which is free from magnetic interference and escorts precision. The brushed sunburst forged dial has velvety smooth edges, showing deep or vivid colors with changes in light and angles. The inner "core" of the Geneva mark is transparent, equipped with the Cal.5100 integrated self-winding mechanical movement exclusively developed by PPF, including 172 parts and double barrels, which can ensure a 60-hour power reserve, which is consistent with the genuine product. The movement is engraved with the Geneva mark Accurate travel time of certification. The two kinds of "straps" launched this time have a variety of options for advancing and retreating, which endows them with invincible commuting across the world. The steel belt is hard and the tape is light. It integrates sports, leisure and business. It is truly the latest generation of exquisite watches that demonstrate the spirit of traveling across the world. ---PPF is in the sky, galloping around the world

PPF is ZF - same factory.
Unsure of what changes if any are mentioned in that post above.

Hello together,

any news with the ZF VC4500? How they are actually with the quality? Date, Dial, Clasp? Have they solve the problem?

Thank you all :)

I doubt it - Im still seeing recent pictures from owners and QC pics with misaligned bezels and crooked cross on dial. Still hit and miss. Biggest issue with this one is the huge variance in the movement amplitude with many examples suffering potentially problematic low amp. If you purchase from TD or M2M - make sure you get a decent timegrapher assessment .

So to my incredibly amateur eye(!) it looks like a bit of the movement decoration has come become dislodged:

I assume I can just pop off the back and take that dislodged centre piece out or glue it back on? Does that seem OK?

Assuming the 3little screws are still on the rotor plate - your pic is a bit blurry - then yes pop twist the back off and see if it can be press fit back on gently or just glue back on. How old is the watch ? ZF are really turning out so many bad examples of this 4500V.......

Thanks for your help!

Yeah, looks like the 'real' screws are still in place underneath.

This will be a about 3 months old or so I think. One of the first ones to come badged as PPF whenever that happened. It's probably only been worn about a dozen times in or so though so not exactly taken a beating.

Coincidentally my brother got one of the first ZF ones and he had decoration come off (different to mine) and fall into the watch mechanism itself and completely stuff it up. He's doesn't live near me and isn't confident enough to open it up so his watch lasted about a week before it became an expensive paperweight. Just stuck in a drawer now until he finds someone who'll work on a rep. I agree that there are pretty poor IME esp. given the pricing as they're not exactly cheap.

Still, I'm going to open mine up and likely just take this out, I'm not bothered what the movement looks like in day-to-day wear so the less decoration to fall off the better.
