Have a look at this thread. Shows aging all the parts step by step
Beside that you should think about using a riveted bracelet. It's correct for this time.

Thanks! 🙏

And you’re right about the bracelet. I like the jubilee, but gonna build a daydate also from raffles and I will use the jubilee for that build.

But I preferably have the big logo bracelet, but can’t find a rep one of this, https://www.chrono-shop.net/36298/rolex-rare-1958-vintage-big-logo-rivets-20mm-bracelet-7206-58-submariner-gmt-6542-6538-6536-5510-5508-5512-6202.jpg

yuki has a couple of new dials - albino, tropical
but dial feet for 15XX calibers.
The tropical looks very similar to the raffles piece 3x the price

their albino is the best option for the price. the proportions of the text and triangle lume plot is proper

I got mine from a viet seller on eBay: link
Thank you, contacted the seller to see if he has any in stock still..

@vintagedvdb, that's a nice looking watch! Do people compliment you on the watch? Feel like this model goes under the radar and is not as flashy as a daytona for example.

Thanks man!

Nahhh they don’t even notice. In my area only the submariners and dj’s get some attention since those really scream Rolex lol

I really like how the colors play out on mine. The patina/light brownish color scheme with the black dial really makes it an easy choice for me in the morning: if I’m wearing beige/brownish the 1016 comes out. If I’m wearing blue the gen 16234 (blue dial with romans) comes out.

Got my eyes on a 16600 now. Base BP with some frankening (insert, crown..?). Wrist is pretty small though so I’m curious if I can rock it.

Rubyswatch has new 1019 matte dials (J-1/2/3) for gen movements
Worth the premium (typically around 300$) compared to Youkiwatch?
Thanks a lot

Yes, sorry, 1016 of course. Would be interested to get opinions vs Youki‘s which are only one third.

a question for those who patina age dials to tropical with paint.

what paint do you use?
watercolor or acrylic? I am guessing watercolor as I think I read that some wash out the dial to restart?

Acrylic is very hard to remove without ruining the dial if you are not comfortable with the paint.
I only use acrylic for the markers.

After having worked on a case now for several Times I feel myself comfortable to use a dremel - saves a lot of time. Bought a tool and sandpaper from ali which does a good Job. Need to change it often for beeing not So durable but its very cheap, so I don't care.

Afterwords I use the same configuration for polishing - like this overpolished look of old watches
