Not wanting to miss out on the fun I threw some leftover seiko parts together so I could wear it for a while. Nh35 fits perfect.

I bought a dial and hands from raffles but at least for me they were very meh..

I really like the quality for the price on all the parts, it's very refreshing to get a bracelet not manufactured by the ma dong razor blade factory.

I'm thinking about a mochacha dial, gilt gloss variant, what do you guys think of those?

most people i have seen buying a Raffles dial have aged it and not used it OOTB
i agree it needs some aging and a change of lume colour, i might try that. ive' since gotten a hankering for a gilt dial and hands....

that's the dremel drill press? yes?

I was hesitant because i was reading that it had some wobbling. seems it is good enough?

Yes Dremel "work station"
I wouldn't personally use is a precision drill press because of the wobble BUT I do see some value to using it horizontally to do polishing

You can't compare it to a real drill station but fixing it by hand while drilling works for me.
As said its really useful while reshaping the case or polishing.

I need to do it once myself to judge.
Indeed it is a small hole but the travel is also very small.

A friend has a cheap drill press. I will try with a 1.2mm first

Hello there, I finally received my case from bivintage store. Here are some (bad) pictures for your enjoyment. The case is supplied with a movement holder (not pictured).

Not sure exactly yet how am I gonna go about building it. I guess, I will use either a ruby or a mochacha dial.

For the movement, there are many possibilities: NH38, ETA2824, ETA2840 & VR3130

It look very different than ruby s one, the flank look way rounder and the lug more shaped like a 16013 case, do you have some end link to fit on to see if the endlink fitment is correct?

When you guys make the lugs slimmer from the Raffles case, do you use sandpaper to get the "original design" from the brushed lugs back? Or do you leave it as and just polish the sides again?

Does the newer raffles explorer case take gen spec crown? I have a spare 600 crown and tube from athaya and wondering if it will fit without modification.

I order a sterile mid case to avoid those brutal engravings

no you will need to remove the stem, drill and tap the hole and fit a get tube for a gen crown IIRC
