i agree it needs some aging and a change of lume colour, i might try that. ive' since gotten a hankering for a gilt dial and hands....most people i have seen buying a Raffles dial have aged it and not used it OOTB
i agree 100%, i will attempt to age all the parts once i finish the current projects im' working on. This thread has been very educational and i thank you all! Thus should be an old watch with signes of wear all over. If you doe it like that the raffles dusly are good IMO.
tell me how it goes. I still have a 5513 to do but this thread is getting me excited on a 1016 for my kid's birthday. And the Raffles gilt dial looks really nicei agree it needs some aging and a change of lume colour, i might try that. ive' since gotten a hankering for a gilt dial and hands....

that's the dremel drill press? yes?
that's the dremel drill press? yes?
I was hesitant because i was reading that it had some wobbling. seems it is good enough?
thanks. you answered my final doubt...I need both thenYes Dremel "work station"
I wouldn't personally use is a precision drill press because of the wobble BUT I do see some value to using it horizontally to do polishing
I need to do it once myself to judge. You can't compare it to a real drill station but fixing it by hand while drilling works for me.
As said its really useful while reshaping the case or polishing.
It look very different than ruby s one, the flank look way rounder and the lug more shaped like a 16013 case, do you have some end link to fit on to see if the endlink fitment is correct?Hello there, I finally received my case from bivintage store. Here are some (bad) pictures for your enjoyment. The case is supplied with a movement holder (not pictured).
Not sure exactly yet how am I gonna go about building it. I guess, I will use either a ruby or a mochacha dial.
For the movement, there are many possibilities: NH38, ETA2824, ETA2840 & VR3130
I just have a 20mm raffles bracelet. I could check in the upcoming daysIt look very different than ruby s one, the flank look way rounder and the lug more shaped like a 16013 case, do you have some end link to fit on to see if the endlink fitment is correct?
I order a sterile mid case to avoid those brutal engravingsWhen you guys make the lugs slimmer from the Raffles case, do you use sandpaper to get the "original design" from the brushed lugs back? Or do you leave it as and just polish the sides again?
no you will need to remove the stem, drill and tap the hole and fit a get tube for a gen crown IIRCDoes the newer raffles explorer case take gen spec crown? I have a spare 600 crown and tube from athaya and wondering if it will fit without modification.
