The 1016: The Under Appreciated Thread

I was in Dubai last week.
Gen and reps galore everywhere. Modern Subs, Hublot, PP, AP, you name it.
Even the Customs Officer had a two tone Date Just (looked fake)
However, I caught several fascinated stares at my 1016 and 5513 reps (at distance). You could see in the look that it was admiration not scrutiny…not bad for watches worth less than 400€ parts and work

The "engraving info" on 6610 is not correct.The following may be of interest for new builders. If you have the time (and inclination) please check my facts, especially regarding the engravings, as I have not ventured into this (and this will be the most costly element of these builds)
Since the 6610 was only produced for a few years, it seems like Rolex was kind of discovering things for themselves, influencing how they'd proceed later with the 1016 model. The different years, have different engraving practices.
1957 models and earlier, do not have "REGISTERED DESIGN", this was only introduced in 1958, as seen on below example:
A LOT of new posts have been made in this thread... I simply can't follow. Too much is posted, and I don't have enough time unfortunately.
I do like the effort you all put into this thread.
Its unfortunate that so much information is "lost" because its posted somewhere 250 pages deep... At this point the Explorer model deserves its own sub-board with sub-sections regarding "Vintage explorer Wiki" section, with informative threads, "Vintage explorer show and tell" with completed builds and their stories, "Vintage explorer build logs" for those wanting to illustrate their build progress... etc.
But that's just my opinion.

I second the idea of a 1016 sub-board based on the astounding input we have been seeing in this thread, and would be willing to help in the donkey work of transferring posts to relevant subsections - I think this would be an amazing resource!
It would indeed! It would cause less repeated questions, of whom the answer had been provided years ago somewhere among the 270+ pages of content. I remember a post about a comparison of (almost all) the hands available. One of our members went the extra length to buy all of them and measure them in length, width, hole size... but I have no clue where it's at, somewhere at page 40 maybe. And I only know this because I remember its existence. There's probably a ton of information in here that I either don't know or can't remember, and thus wont find, it's literally lost somewhere in the pile.
I encourage you or anyone here to reach out to the upper echelons regarding this subject. I'm not sure who would be the appropriate contact for such proposal. Lets not limit the sub to 1016's only though

I don't run the Rolex section, it needs to go via the section mods before admin look at it.

Critics would want to know how the wiki would get organized though. I agree with you. Just wanted to reinforce your points of relevant subsections (and properly separated).
