I wish
I am still stuck at parts definition
The raffles dial is 2836
The cases i find on ali are NH36
And I don’t want to buy a viet bezel

I don’t know if the date window aligns
@Geonor maybe you know ?
You can use an NH34 with a DW overlay and use dial dots to fasten the dial. The cyclops on the NH case will be too far right though so you will have to move it or get a new crystal. The biggest issue is that the NH34 doesn't have the instant date change.

And that’s the reason why I hate working with date watches
🤣
@369mafia I guess it means I will buy you a watch one day

The Raffles 1655 dials , although not perfect, do have a dw and feet that fit the dg3804 so no DWO required. but finding an open 6/9 dw for a dg coudl be tricky but it is 29mm

I think that machining the lip off the raffles case that holds the rotating bezel on just to fit a fixed bezel onto it might be easier than trying to find a case and crystal get raffles to send the case over to @316lad and he can get that done in an hour .

He will start to wonder why all these raffles parts orders are arriving at his house now lol

I am tempted to build another since I bought the new raffles 1655 dial. I am too happy with how mine is,( imperfections and all), its been running like a champ and is keeping +4 accuracy for a dg. If it aint broke ,dont fix it It get alot of wrist time.

Probably when my schedule clears up a bit over the holidays I will give modifying the raffles mid case a go and see if I can get a bezel to fit on there. and complete a second one.

I have a spare DG if that can kick you into gear. Yours for free if you want it.
Thanks brother
It’s not a parts thing
It’s that I just don’t want to work 🤣

I have been reluctant to go to the bench these last weeks, and the two times I tried to do some advanced work, it ended in disaster

Two minute hands trashed and today I destroyed a case and two crowns. I am disgusted

Yes , skills quickly fade , when you take absence from the bench. I found that to be the case for me as well.
:use it or lose it : as they say

I am in a busy work period
So my focus is not really there.

Also
I have been dying to try new things and it was clealy not the right time

I was modding parts that are not compatible to make them fit…a bit like when I was making that Railmaster… uncharted territories, so breaking things experimeting is sort of normal…

At least that’s my excuse 🤣

@karbon is being a lazy *******.

GET BACK TO THE BENCH IMMEDIATELY!

Seriously though, as @369mafia says - these are perishable skills certianly. Time spent away from loupe and tweezer time errodes the general handling and working ability.

I have an old Molnija movement to hand that gets reached for if I've been away for a few days and I'll pull a few bits off it, place a few bits back on and generally just "dial myself back in" to the work before reaching for anything quality.

And yes, if you want to get Ken to send that to me I'll wizz off that lip for the rotating bezel.

Taking apart an ST36 and slamming it back together is also always a nice warmup.

I will take you on that offer someday

Don’t worry, it’s a combination of several things

I have a lot on my mind these days and I need to get that V2 of the 1957 Moonswatch out by managing to crimp that fuxxing minute hand

I have several hundreds of euros worth of parts inbound

What I love about all of this is you can look at your work and appreciate it, but then that little tingle in the back of your head reminds you that there’s always something more you can do to reach perfect.

We are, brothers, in pursuit of perfection.
