The 1016: The Under Appreciated Thread

This is me. This is absolutely what I feel about Watchmaking.
I have numerous dials - I'm painting, texturing, applying Indices.
Don't get me started on how I want to convert Ebauche back to Three Quarter Plate.
The Movement in the imagination is the kernel of innovation.
Whatever it is.
It's a mad place at the same time as being a rational approach.
There's no other way of squaring it away except by doing it. . . .
We brothers, we do it.

I have the same "problem" and have his email. Is it appropriate to contact him by email after 3 weeks?

It has been a while, here is my 1016:
Many tanks automatico for your reply I am really grateful for you taking the time to explain the process,
I had ordered the the tool prior to reading and it arrived today (pic below) my impatience got the better of me (again) and I could resist giving it a go
It’s a lot sturdier than the my old one with the outer jaws being supported and also a cut out for the case
Fortunately the bezel and crystal came off with no damage, I was very relieved.
I took the opportunity to photograph the Ruby crystal next to the one I received from Gleeve last week, you can really see the difference in height and how domed the Ruby (on the right) is.
Also measured them

The OD is quite a bit different although I could remove a bit of material from it (did this with a t19 on a 5513)
Going to try the yellow t22 from Gleave &Co next as it’s inexpensive, will update in due course

The bezel remover looks well made!
I had to r/r a bezel on a high mileage lady Rlx 69173 yesterday. Took the movement out first and it went Ok using blades. Hard on the nerves though.

I had asked Ken if he could send me a side by side pic of the two dials but he said his camera skills are poor.not sure if anyone noticed.

The new tropical dial is a darker brown than the original rusty red one. Its too bad he used white on the print instead of the gold .
Edit He did put them next to each other, its difficult to tell the darker brown compared to the rusty brown
white is dark brown gilt is rusty brown

Looking for someone to take my money on Black Friday, I found some good deals on movments on AliX. About $20 for NH35 and 2824. I'm sure they're bottom of the barrel, but at that price, it's hard to pass on.
