Finally my 2.7mm cobalt drill bit arrived and I retapped the case, now it accepts gen spec tubes & crowns and I installed the correct ones.
I also enlarged the inner diameter of the retaining ring so the crystal will fit without having to shave it down and having it crack after a while.
I am basically done with it other than rebrushing the lugs as I am not satisfied with how they are atm. I would also need suggestions as to what serial would be better for the yuki dial I posted on page #156 as I am a bit lost😅
Good job! Which dial are u looking at?
If u’re buying the white lume dial and keeping it white, it’s closer to a mk3 sold in the 80s towards the end of the 1016 production.
U can use that bobwatches link to sort of create your own serial from there.

Handset too?
Hands are random. raffles.... yuki... can't remember which but they were for the ETA, but they fit the nh movement like everyone mentioned.
only the seconds hand is NH-specific and sourced locally (but it likely originated from china too.)

I started to try this out

I have a hard time peeling the top and bottom layer of the PCB photosensitive film.
Any tips?
Use two pieces of scotch tape, one per each side. With the bottom part facing you peel the “tab” created with the scotch while keeping the other flat.

Quiet day in the office today, so I progressed a bit on the 6305 Explorer by changing the hands from Mercedes to the earlier stick hands (Rafflestime), ageing the dial lume (tried burnt umbra watercolor paint for the first time and am quite pleased with the result), changed the crown to the Brevet type (Raffles dials) and reshaped the caseback closer to original bubbleback-type.

I had convinced myself that I would not like the stick hands as much as the Mercedes hands, but they are amazing! Watching the lollipop seconds hand following the minute track is strangely therapeutic 🤔
Next steps will be to continue shaping the case profile, as well as engraving.

nicely done.
love the color of the fautina and caseback.
imo these hands match the waffle dial best.
not a big fan of that big ass crown though lol it could lose some weight... just my 2, 000, 0000 cents. :p
