I got the better pictures of the CG and pulled the trigger on the watch. The angle of the picture isn't the best to see the gap between crown and body but close enough to see there isn't a huge gap.

The crown doesn't look to be the skinny one turning up lately unless I'm mistaken.

this looks like a different batch. This has the polished bezel edge and even the bezel knurling isn't as high up on the side as the others the past few months. the crown looks great imo. I would accept this. What TD was this ?

That crown does look thicker imo.

As for it sitting far from the case. If it is indeed the hex nut being not fully screwn i it's an easy fix for the TD's workers and they should fix it before the try to sell ot imo

Specifically a Pam 382 ?
Have you done anything to them before hand such as greasing the seals etc or are they straight out of the box?

I greased the seals on my ZF and pressure tested to 5 bar. No problems with swimming.[emoji1303]

I received my 382 from Sead today. As confirmed with the QC pic, there's a very slight rotation of the 15 marker. I accepted it because even a 382 pic on Panerai.com gallery demonstrates the same rotation. Also browsing through Martin Wilmsen's gen pics, not all of the bronzos have straight number markers.

From Panerai.com & mine below: (color is off d/t fluorescent light & iPhone)

Most PAMs are waterproof once the seals are greased. Used my old 382 for swimming all the time

I always ensure they are greased. H factory and noob actually come greased in my experience and are extremely well made. V6 is much less consistent in terms of QC. I have seen a few ungreased.

I have taken apart countless Panerais both gen and rep. The rep parts especially from noob are finished internally almost on par with gen. I would guess that you could take most modern reps up to 10ATM with no problem. This assumes that the crystal gasket wasn't crimped from bad installation. The crystal is the most likely spot for a leak. The crown with a properly fit stem and caseback properly tightened are rock solid.

Lots of informative replies ... thanks,

I read somewhere about a ghetto test for water-proofing ...you take the movement out and put everything back together then drop it in water and see if the case leaks . Probably good enough for just swimming but I wouldn't take it to the Marianas Trench.

The reason for all these inquiries is because nothing seems to patina bronze as well as a nice dip in the ocean. I'll be going on vacation in a few weeks and want to wear my watch in the ocean and pool but I don't want to take the chance of ruining it.
Is having the seals greased a big job?
Most of the jewelry stores here in the sticks where I live can only do menial tasks and send the watches out for anything too complicated.

A 3 year old can grease the gaskets.
Just rub them in with some silicon grease and put it back together

greasing rings and gaskets is very easy, but you will need a few tools:

Silicone Grease

Neat little applicator tool that ensures even application

Caseback opener set

the 7750 stem can be tricky to remove and reset and takes a little practice. If youre not very experienced and just want to make sure the crown is greased you can remove the CG, pull the crown to the 3rd (time set) position, coat the blunt side of an exacto knife or the tip of a needle with some grease and insert it between the crown and tube. Apply the grease push the crown back in and wind it a few times.

I don't know whether I would attempt something like that on a watch of this value .

If I did though ..I wouldn't need the case back removal tool .... I have plenty of pipe wrenches on hand.:picard:

Is there an O ring behind the bezel? Greasing the rear o ring and the crown seems easy enough...

Isn't there an exploded close-up view of this watch's internals somewhere ..I have been searching but can't find it.

I'm sure I saw it somewhere here ....anybody ?

Let it be known that my earlier comments about the crown appear to be invalid. I just received my KW from Toro.
-Mid case is beautiful and very nicely finished.
-Crystal is equal to gen... I don't know what else to say... Wow
-Caseback is perfectly finished
...BUT the crown and CG are wrought with problems.
the CG has absolutely no chamfer on its outside edges. Reshaping is possible, but wow... I'm not happy.
The crown does indeed appear to be too small in thickness and diameter.
to compensate for this the factory has adjusted the tube hex nut to make the tube taller and create a better seal with the crown. The only problem is my hex nut was grabbing the crown as I adjusted the hands and ended up unscrewing itself!!!! This is an easy fix for me, but not for most people.

Be careful when selecting a KW Bronzo. This latest batch is not good at all. I don't recommend a purchase until they fix these issues.

It would be incredible if ALE7575 could get a message to KW with these concerns.

This confirms what I was thinking and stated above ..that the reason some hex tubes were so prominent was to ensure a better seal on the too thin crown. My crown appears to be the older thick one so it may be closer to the body.

You got yours rather quickly Grim ...I'm still waiting on mine that was shipped last Saturday 23 April. The wait is driving me crazy

Exactly what I said about the crown. I had one of the "bad batch" and I went through the same thing two months ago.

I would wait until July or Aug. or go with a ZF
