Agreed, would it be due to weight difference or color difference of RG or both?
On somebody else's wrist, one would not notice weight difference. Is color difference noticeable?

In my experience GP colour is never quite right In particular with RG. NWBIG implies not only the look being right. But that in the whole ownership experience there would be no measurable benefit derived from buying the Gen

Actually, I should change my question. Not NWBIG, but does the BP RG come close to a super-rep? Not considering weight of course. There is one on M2M and it looks a beauty, but I guess I might have to pass because of RG color difference

It is very hard to get RG right in GP. I have a number of Gen watches in RG. The colour of RG varies enormously according to the exact alloy which provides the colour. It ranges from almost yellow gold, which many German watch makers prefer, to quite pink or even brown. When gold plate is applied to emulate RG a fairly generic brownish colour is often the result. To me it looks totally fake and simply further confirms to me, my original view that GP is not serious.

@timnic54 - the biggest factor for ownership experience of a time teller is its accursacy :) :)

From my limited experience, these reps fall woefully short on that, out of the box. Other than the purple oyster. Well, I may revise this statement after I get some pieces back after strodda service

Exactly. The gold models are even waaay more overpriced than most of the SS versions, however, if you really want gold, go for real gold. ;)

I have never found time keeping so important, neither with Reps or Gens. Truth is many Gens are not that accurate, particularly after a year or two of use. For me up to 30 sec a day is fine and most of my watches Rep or Gen are well within that. It is very rare i wear the same watch for more than a couple of days so the most it would ever be out is a minute. I only set them to the nearest minute or two in the first place.
I get that time keeping is the primary concern for some owners, but definitely not for all.

I don't even wear any of my watches more than one day, however, I'd like them to keep the time at least "reasonable". Therefore all of my watches get serviced after arrival (cleaning, oiling). I found that quite a good investment. :)

Nobody buys a watch to see how late they are

If only one could swap out these mechanical movements (in gen or rep) and replace them with the likes of the Seiko Astron GPS solar.

Whoa ... you dont like the fact that you keep the watch by the window, and 10 years later, it will still be accurate to the second?

That's what any smartphone or even any electronic device can do, including eternal calendar, moon phase etc., however can't be compared to the piece of art a mechanical movement is about.

Well, Good Sir, neither of them can do those just sitting by the window looking at the sky. Add the solar component.

For your reference, dear @Variatio Delectat that quote is not obviously mine but by someone who knows something more about watches than us. Jean Claude Biver

As the "@" stands for "at" I'd like to point out that I am not "at Variatio Delectat".

Having said that, Jean Claude is CEO from one company, as I am from another. And he clearly is entitled to have an opinion which is different from mine. ;)
