@MoD2Franken
looks good, but im afraid it may do the same effect as on @ck85 `s watch? (recession growing towards the case)

i cant wait to apply @andrei01 plastik mod. :)

The bottom of the SEL´s has normally less material as the SEL-TOP´s and if you buckle the bottom from a slopy angle there is basically no risk.
You know that we only need a tiny bit to get the recessed look on a V7 - with a press it´s done in a breath :drinks_cheers:

Just a side-note: the SEL of my noob v7 A2836 is actually machined from a single piece of steel. Can't show you photos of it because it will be a nightmare to get the SEL back on. So in my case I won't be able to take off the outer parts and grind them down like andrei01

Result in comibation with slim Springbars of course:
-> (dents can be sand easily + using scotch brite will be like untouched):

but i must say again: i guess mod2franken 's way may not recommended if the SEL has play!
but im not sure about that. its just a theory of mine. ;)

I know what you mean...

If you buckle the bottom of a SEL to recess the Top in relation the CG,
it´s clear that you have to change often - not alwas but often the Springbars.

Finally the combination of buckled SEL with nice match to case and a stong reliable Springbar Fit is mandatory - for sure !

In case of the SD i used finally slim Springbars in combi with buckled SEL and i have a strong reliable fittment between the lugs,
there is absolut no play - finally the overall look and so on is of course better compared as OOTB from BP-factory in this case.

IMO we have in general in all modding cases plastik vs. buckle vs. aluminium foil etc. ... finally the task to fix the SEL between the lugs,
if we recessed the top of the SEL with the buckling or plastik method is finally the same result -> lowered position of the Springbar drill hole

Your watch looks so good now ! [emoji106]
Your method is awsome too

So glad to see the sel problem going away. I was so frustrated looking at pics of watches with bad sel.

I was jelous looking at my father's TC perfect sel. Now my sub rulez [emoji3]

I thought that the noob sel was the same as my other sub. But since i've used the plastic mod anyway it doesn't matter .[emoji3] i'm glat i've tried the plastic before forcing a sharp tool in the sel.

No. Bending the ends of the springbar is not recommendable. You will risk wearing out the part of the pipe which actually holds the small pin in place. I therefore bent the springbar on the middle ( like a V-shape). Just be cautious not to suddenly bend/ crush the entire springbar.
Does your watch have thick springbars ? If i bend mine just a little they won't go in the Sel anymore. Do you have a picture ?

Thx !

Sorry, I don't have pictures. After bending the thick 2.0mm springbars, it was of course much more difficult to push it through the SEL due to the friction. I just held the SEL sideways (i.e. vertically) and pushed the SEL onto the springbar (also hold it vertically with the other hand) against the table surface. I noticed, that even though the springbar will appear/exit on the other side of the SEL, the springbars internal spring mechanism might get blocked by rubbing too much against the inside of the SEL. So I just used a small pointed plier to carefully pull the pin from the springbar tube until it popped out.
Anyways, the result was that the springbar will notably lean more towards the top of the SEL hole. That means if you flip the watch face down on the table and hence also flip the SEL upside down, the springbar should be slightly closer to the lug holes. Nevertheless it still required a lot of force to push the bent springbar into the lug holes. That last half millimeter really is difficult, because it will not suffice to merely push down. You will also have to push a) the SEL as close to the case as possible and b) you need to find the right angle to push the springbar down AND towards the case. I actually marked the position of the lug hole on backside of the lugs with a pencil. Otherwise you will have a hard time figuring out if you are still far away from the lug hole. Man, this is turning out to be rocket science. Sorry for the long post.

ck85 : thanks for the detailed explanation. [emoji106]

So I ended up grinding the thick 2mm springbar ends with a file. After making them thinner i could pop them into place but still had to apply a little bit of force.

Unfortunately, the Sel didn't fit as good as before. It's still recessed but just a tiny amount. No play though, SEL sits firmly.

I've tried putting back the old thinner springbars but the sel wobbled much more than before. This is due to the wear cuased by pushing on them so many times.

I'll try getting some other springbars but until i do i'll keep the original 2mm ones.

I will post some pics later.
