You can also convert an ETA 2879 which shares the calendar parts with the 2836, but is low beat. Stem height is the same and is a great option for low beat builds. I bought a couple for my subs and they work good after a service.
Thanks for the Tipp. I already have an ETA 2846 though. What would be the advantage of an 2879 over an 2846? I am trying to find out the exact movement parts that are needed for an GMT conversion btw. but sadly can't find the precise info.

It just has a different architecture for the timekeeping parts, but it is cheaper/easier to obtain.
Your best/cheapest bet is to buy a chinese GMT 2836 and transfer the parts in your 2846.

Do you know what size the gmt hand needs to be for that kit?
If you mean the size of the post, I think the case is designed for the 2836, so ETA. If you mean the length or size of the arrow, I think there were more than one, depending on which version you're trying to replicate.
This is a good reference:

Man you are complicating your life by yourself, buy for a few pounds a 2836 and you have solved it
I will say the 3804 looks a lot more like the movement in the 1675, for whatever that's worth. Purple wheels and similar rotors.

But yes, the a2836 is a lot better reliability for not much more money.

As an alternate to the conversion kit, you can purchase an HZ6460 for $60 and harvest the parts off it, then replace them with the parts removed from the Eta leaving you with a working A2836 in addition to your converted gmt movement.

Raffles sent me photos of someone’s first artempts at shaping the crown guards.

Probably not a very active member on here or possibly a reddit bro ?

Looks promising

It looks somewhat gen spec.
crystal fits on midcase
metal ring to hole on bezel assembly
I can not confirm as I do not have one in hand.

The Modder who was doing the crown guard shaping is somewhere in China. according to raffles. He is a member on here.

The same modder also used the case set to build a 1655
those crown guards looks good. Looks like he is using a cartel / bp bezel (pointy 4s) so its safe to assume the crystal is a 25-116 and the case can fit a smooth flat bezel or rotating bezel assembly
Id say that looks better than the cartel case for the 1655
