Thanks for the link scott, not sure what that's a rep of, with professional below speedmaster it's not an automatic, but the size is halfway between both of them... <slap forehead>. Looks like the Pelagos is my next rep, and still look for a gen speedy.

Anyone have experience with this rep of DSOTM? I tried searching through the threads here but no one seems to have looked into this newer rep. Can anyone see any problems with it? Thanks in advance - new to this sort of thing and got into it because I really love DSOTM. Looking to buy a nice rep of it for <$600.

the only bad thing is that it doesn't say 'Professional' on the dial and the subdial on 6 isn't fixed. Would love to make a mod, but don't know how ....

I think you mean the Mecaquartz movement?

Nope. They make reps with this movement and are normally cheaper.

Doesn't help since this only affects the chrono sec hand. The small sec@9 still steps sec by sec and makes the quartz movement obvious at the very first sight. However it does work very well with the speedy without small sec subdial.

Just wanted to post a small tribute in this thread. 46 years ago today, man left the moon for the last time to date as Gene Cernan and Harrison Schmidt of Apollo 17 departed the lunar surface and rejoined command module pilot Ron Evans begin their journey home.

Here is Cernan's ref. 105.012 Speedy at the Omega museum in Bienne, the last watch worn on the moon!

Note the missing bezel and beautiful JB Champion mesh bracelet worn by the astronauts pre and post launch.

And here is the "controversial" Speedmaster issued for the 40th anniversary. I personally think it's beautiful, but I can see how the legibility is an issue.

I hope someday in my lifetime the Speedy can return to the moon, but until then we can all enjoy ours here on earth (gen and rep).

These days, what do you guys think is a good price for a speedy moonwatch rep? I know it's really difficult to rep these watches due to the non sweeping seconds as well as the variation in the subdials, but I'm looking for the closest one I can get. Thanks
