Hi Dave, I remember you from the forum a long time ago, I think.

Were you the fellow who started what are you wearing wrist shots with your wrist and arm across your face for privacy?

The suspense is killing me ....

.... But I really must resist the temptation to open these 2, I know what's inside, (Gulf F1 and Speedy Apollo 11) and if I don't leave them un-opened on me desk, the Car on my lift will not get finished today :ROFLMAO:

So, play time and some pixels L8r's peeps, but I assure you the suspense for you guys is nowt compared to how the frustration of having to be sensible is for ickle moi :D

the suspans is killing us too .....

OK, OK, Pixels can do the talking, the Tag F1 Gulf is simply amazing quality, and the Chronograph functions exactly as Gen details are superb, and the Gulf Colours are just exactly the same as the Gen too, I have seen others that are very dull in comparison....

The cheaper Omega Speedmaster Apollo XI is such a nicely detailed piece, I am proud to have it in my collection. It's visuals are spot on the only real tell is when you have been watching it for a long while, or using the Chrono, the VK movement actually doesn't use the same subdial locations, but the chrono will still time Seconds and Minutes, but the @3 dial runs at "Time" hours. Running sec is @6 too, but for me this is no biggie, I'll bet no one will notice any of that except you guys on here.

I stress, it is a great rep for the price paid, and another unusual Omega now in my collection....

So that's me all up to date atm, the 25 Watch Display unit is here, tbh I'm not that happy with it, I'm giving some thought as to whether I send it back for refund, re engineer a couple of bits to make it a tad more user friendly, or whether to buy another that holds 20 watches like the one I got, and mount it immediately above the one I got.

I know what I would like to buy, a huge Glass one with turntable shelves and lighting, but my dear sweet angel has to live in tha hoose too, and it would likely look outta place in our Lounge, and no room in the Bedrooms ................

I'll let y'all know what when where once I decide :ROFLMAO:

Cheers for now, D

Great Dave!
I like that Tag and yes the speedy ads some spicy in your collection.

For the display unit, if you don’t like it straight on probably will not gonna like it later despite the modifications you might do and adjust, what’s not to like?

Photos?

It's the fact that it doesn't have a hinged door, it has lugs on the front and you have to slide the front "Face" cover upwards and off to access the watches, the rest of it is kinda quirky, made from sections, it reminds me of something built from a kids "Lego" set if you get wot I mean ;)

Now, I do have the technology in the workshop to cut off the lugs, buy a piece of Plexi Glass 3mm and fit hinges and a small lock to it, then it would have a door, and I'll likely get at least 6 months use until I talk Mel into a huge display cabinet with rotating shelves, as I get more and more watches this year :ROFLMAO:

Do you see what I mean, or am I just being a picky fucker ?????

New and much nicer wooden cabinet with glass shelves and sliding glass door is now ordered, plus 30 nice neat and well designed clear plastic watch stands which will fit between the shelves nicely.

The new cabinet should be here by the weekend, and the watch stands within a week ;)

The glass door slots into grooves in the top and base of the unit and it can be slid out from either side for access, or can be removed for easy cleaning or arranging (y)

The cabinet measures 55h x 55w x 11d cm externally.
It has four 8.5cm deep glass shelves which will be 10 cm apart when all four installed and spaced evenly.

Internal dimensions are 52h x 50w x 8.5d cm. I Should be able to easily get 12 watches per shelf. so this will do for a fair while yet as that will give me a total of 5 rows = room for 60 watches so I best get some serious buying done this year as hobby funds allow :D:D:D

I'll be looking into some form of lighting for this one as well :ROFLMAO:

I'm guessing it would be rude not to include a couple of screenshots of my latest couple of buys ....

@Dave2302 , I collect everything, too much stuff and I've calmed down... but for example for my collection of 1/5 helmets (always kept in the original never opened packaging) I've always liked to think of a linear plexi display , a single long row to be illuminated in some way... never seen something like this, have you ever come across something similar?

I think that when we get the right new house I will have to think about it seriously (in a few hours we will go to see one, it would be perfect🤞), but I will end up having to build it myself... for musical instruments it will be a huge problem, but I will solve it somehow.

Since you were talking about systems/turntables, are you also passionate about Hi Fi?

Great Dave, always a pleasure to read about your progress!

I haven't seen linear displays but I'd imagine a plexiglass cabinet mfr would be able to prouduce exactly what you want, or at very least cut you the pieces and supply the correct glue to build it yourself.

Definitely into Hi Fi, but in this instance I was thinking of a corner glass display cabinet with circular shelves that had a motor in the base turning the shelves very slowly (y)
Until I saw the price of a decent one

Music wise, always been into it and decent sound systems. I started DJ / KJ when I first moved here, (17 years ago) since no one locally was doing it, I covered roughly a 60 mile radius and did no other work than that, approx 2 - 3 gigs a week, used a 2kw rig, lasers and light show, fully digital.

I actually got lucky after the Christmas gigs 2019, at one of them, a young fella I knew asked me if I wanted to sell all my gear.

My arthritis was getting bad by then, and also I was now running the garage business, so humping a ton of gear in and out and setting up / packing down was beginning to be a pain in the arse, and I had actually thought about packing it in ;)

I did the New Years Eve gig and then second week of Jan 2021 I sold all the gear to him for a pretty penny, it had paid for itself over and over lol.
The best bit was how lucky I got, because shortly after the Covid lock-downs hit, and had I not sold it all, it would have all sat idle in the Van.

I've never seen the guy gigging locally, perhaps he gave up on the idea ?

These days I have the entire contents of my Disco laptops on a mobile phone with 2 big SD cards in it, which will bluetooth to our Conservatory / Hot Tub room Soundbar system, (which can be unhooked and placed outside the Doors in good weather), for BBQ etc use, also can be linked to the Lounge TV Soundbar, both of which are good kit and sound amazing. I update the digital files a bit these days, just with stuff Mel and I like, since I don't have to cater for all tastes any more (y)

Now, please, I've been reading some of my posts back, folks may think I am a rich snob or something, and I assure you all no way am I :ROFLMAO:

I spend as fast as I earn lol, because I do believe I can't take it with me, and all my family are doing well so no point leaving them money, I have always believed in work hard / play hard NOW, because none of us know what will happen tomorrow.

Mel works too, and she has some money put by, so she will be OK, if anything happened to me.
We got rid of our mortgage nearly 2 years ago now, and that has helped immensely, tbh we would probably be in shit if we hadn't, but we had a little unexpected windfall so squared off the balance.

We only live in a small croft house that is very old and humble, (lol like us) so yeah please don't think I was born wiv a golden spoon ;)

@Dave2302 , economic wealth is useful if it exists, human wealth is more important and you seem like a person with a great attitude!

Besides, it's better if I don't start talking about Hi Fi, I would ruin this beautiful thread You can understand me because you worked there too, a boundless and very expensive world 😅
