Some automotive history re Shelby Ford Thunderbirds for my fellow Car nuts ;)

The Thunderbird Landau that the Breitling Top Time watch honours is one of ten 428ci (7.0 litre) V8 engined models which were ordered from Ford in 1966 with a full options pack and then modified by Shelby America.

Below is pictured the actual car personally owned and driven by Shelby himself also the letter of Authenticity.
It was sold on 9th August last year for $46,500 ....

Now THAT is freaking cool mate! Amazing bit of provenance. Nice! 428 for a stock car is big cubes, lead to some crazy modified cubes too

Sounds cheap to me?

I would put it at about right, probably could have made more but sold at the wrong time of year IMO, a car like that (here in UK at least) would have made top money around March to May. Even in USA the currency trends are very similar, well they were up to May last year when I quit currency dabbling ;)

This chunky monkey arrived today, working faultlessly and in VGC especially considering it's 10 years old !!

Needs a good clean and a wee polish and it'll be as brand noo again.
I'm all outta toothbrushes, so will get some next time I'm in town, unless I, ahem, cough cough, "borrow" Mels :D

The new strap for my TAG Heuer Monaco open works is here, fitted and a great improvement over the one it came with :)

Blue OP arrived, markers are fine, it's just very difficult to get a pic of all 3 as they have silver in between the white at 3-6-9, but watch in hand it's fine (y)
Actually another very nice wee nugget with rock solid Miyota and no 'complicadosamabobs' from @RepPossessed .

BLS Breitling Top Time Shelby Ford Thunderbird edition arrived, absolutely gorgeous rare piece in beautiful condition it was advertised as only worn twice, and I do believe that :)

Trouble is I'm now on the hunt for its sibling, the Shelby Ford Mustang version with Green dial, preferrably BLS, but may have to settle for a Quartzie if a BLS doesn't come up in M2M over the next few weeks of CNY ;)

I've also ordered a green / orange strap for the Top Time, to match in with the colours upon the dial, hands and T/Bird logos

Finally, looking at Tracking a few days ago, I think the Seagull might arrive after CNY now, as it doen't appear to have been dispatched, but hey ho, I got plenty to get on wiv, i.e. try and find time to build the new cabinet as well as 3 of my vehicles needing MOT's starting 28th February with Mels "SP0G" as we aptly named it :D

Pixels ....

Did I ever mention I'm not a lover of brown, (broon in Jockish) 🤣

So I treated the old Shelby Ford Thunderbird to a new strap from a UK company, to match the "Thunderbird" logo and watch seconds sub@9 hand, and the stitching matches the Chrono hands and the Tachymetre at 2-3 :D

Boyz and their toyz eh ;)

Also latest purchase a quick M2M, nice wee Tudor BB "Burgundy" for not a lotta wonga ....

A rather large update is due, have been and am still busy but now officially retired, just finalising all the paperwork needed.

So IIRC since the last update there have been a few new arrivals ....

Breitling Cockpit, Omega + Swatch Black Speedy Moonswatch, Omega Snoopy Speedy and a TAG Heuer Senna F1 Cal16

Still not got the Seagull but should be here soon.

Also bought a new 7753 movement for the Blaken Bamford Daytona, which I have tested extensively and is working flawlessly, plus keeping very good time, will fit this when things calm down a bit here, not in a rush to fuck it up errrrrm damage the dial or hands, so it's now waiting patiently in a watch coffin outta harms way :D

I would rather wait until I have a quiet day all to myself to go real slow with this one ;) ....

And finally, Saturday and Sunday I got the 2 new Cabinets built, re drilled the holes for the shelves for better spacing and robbed 2 shelves from the old Cabinet so I now have 6 rows of 10 watches per row = 120 watch capacity.

It's still a work in progress in as much as I have a bunch more stands to get, but everything has been relocated lower on the wall to fit the second cabinet above, and all watches aside from three in the sick bay and my daily beater currently in the workshop, are in the new display, albeit some are without stands, and it's going to take me eons of moving them about to acheive some symmetry, and try and keep each brand to it's own shelf(s).

I've still got to sort out the lighting too, as the ones I got will not fit without taking up watch spaces, so they will be going under Mels new kitchen cupboards and I will be ordering some thin LED strips for the Display instead ;)

A quickie picture I took yesterday evening ....

Nah
Dave you're gonna have to stop at 365 watches, one for every day of the year.
And on leap year, go one day without a watch
Nah, I can't really see me stopping there, but in reality the buying has now slowed down a bit now.
My wanted list is all but exhausted, well until some bugger on here posts a watch I've not seen before :ROFLMAO:
I will also likely upgrade a few lower tier watches to the level of BLS, VSF, ZF, etc.

The next Cabinet will be the final one, which will be hand built same depth, the size of a double or triple wardrobe, glass doors and shelves and have proper lighting, it will likely be fixed in our lounge next time.

We don't believe you :ROFLMAO:

As Dave puts in plans for a whole new floor for a watch show room, big enough for 10,000 watch's
