We need someone to weight the parts not the whole watch
Only then we will know if it's breakthrough or not.

The answer is that the tungsten was added into the bracelet so that there is a color difference between the watch head and the bracelet. BTW, GM uses SS spring bars on a full gold watch, which is also wrong.

I really like their innovations in the materials but I personally would not buy it.

in addition, I highly recommend you get the bracelet on the white gold version by GM. its color is beautiful. If you want the whole watch, get the white gold version too and plate a layer of white gold on the watch head to make the color match.

No, flan_dad does terrible work and doesn’t even disassemble watches before dunking them in his sink filled with plating solution. Your best bet would be @Oascom if you’re in the US or @Nikz19 in the EU. Had my Smurf done by Nik earlier this year and it’s absolutely spot on, with no wear so far. Trust me these guys may charge more, but there’s a damn good reason why!

4 plated watches in with Flan and zero compliants. He definitely disassembles the watches prior? I get pics/videos of them taken apart everytime.

I second that. I just got two GMF DayDates plated just three weeks ago from Flan, and it was just as good as the work I got from Nikz. I also get pics and videos of the breakdown each time. Not sure why you had issues @fall1n1, but I have had zero issues with the 5 pieces he has done for me over the past year. Furthermore, OASCOM is also great but I don't like waiting 4-8 months to have something done.

That’s about 9-10g’s less than the pictures my TD sent me all above 160g. Is this your watch?

The weight depends on the movement. Clone 3255 movement is thicker so the tungsten back is thinner than that of the 2836. I believe the 2836 comes in at 160g.

- SS feels much lighter compared to Gen and feels very different on the wrist
- Every part has had weight added to it including the bracelet
- There are two models with weight added, one with 2836 movement and one with 3255 movement. He recommends the one with 2836 movement
- RG model with added weight is 166g and SS is 120g-130g and gen is around 210g
- Has a nice weight to it when worn on the wrist of something heft pressing down
- The case back cover of the watch has the most weight added to it and has been made thicker internally

I did not see the video but he was wrong. The weight was only added to the bracelet. All other parts have no weight added.

Machining tungsten is extremely difficult. I could laser cut sheet tungsten if that would interest anyone. I can cut up to 1/2 thick and hold .001" tolerance. Steel I can go up to 3/4". I can also do full 3d machining of any other material....

Very interested if you could machine a gen spec DD parts.
After that, Id probably beg @Financial Mistake modding to plate it in his OCD way. Thats 99% weight & feel, pick the right internals and its 99% look as well.

All comes down to time & money.

But this would be a very interesting and unique project.
