@dogwood

To me that looks like the "fake clean" 3285 movement?

The movement in the Fake Clean is more likely to be an SH3285 v2 (which is now a very common movement). But there’s no way to tell if the movement in the post you linked to is a hybrid or not because Elliot didn’t take any pictures showing the intermediate winding wheel’s arbor hole through the train bridge (the hole in Elliot’s pics was covered by the rotor).

Thank you very much @dogwood. I'm actually coming back from my watchmaker and it's to replace this movement. I don't know which factory this GMT is from? But it doesn't look very good. If you knew what movement it is you would be doing me a great favor.

Please upload a better photo. Also, please don't touch movements with your bare fingers.

Looks like an updated sh3285 used in the THBF GMTs. It's the only one I've seen use a rotor that's full of ball bearings so far.

Very new-guy question incoming:

Why on a "super clone" like the DD4130 does the dial still work backwards from a gen?

To move the time forward on my gen Daytona, I rotate counter-clockwise. On my Clean Daytona with the DD4130 that I got from Steve, I rotate it clockwise. For something that is 99% interchangeable parts, that seems like a big change and also one that wouldn't be too hard to fix, but I don't know what I don't know and I can't seem to find the answer by searching.

@dogwood thank you very much, actually this is a photo taken by my watchmaker. I will ask him to take more. Should I be wary of him based on the way he touches the movement? Ahahahah.

How sure are you that your gen Daytona is gen?

Both gen and Dandong and Shanghai 4130 movements operate the same way from the crown. in all cases advancing the time involves rotating the crown clockwise. If your gen Daytona requires a counter clockwise rotation of the crown to advance the hour & minute hands then your gen Daytona doesn’t have a 4130 movement in it.

If your gen daytona is from before 2000, it has a Zenith 4030 movement inside. But even on the 4030 you rotate clockwise to advance the time.

However if your “gen” Daytona actually has an eta 7750 movement inside, then that would explain why you have to rotate the crown counter clockwise to make the hands on the dial advance.

So, I return to the original question: how sure are you that your gen Daytona is gen?
