Thanks for your help with the GMT info!! Also, can you confirm if the SH, VR and VS 3135 movements are all interchangeable? If I have a zf Hulk with a SH or VR 3135. Can I put a VS 3135 if the movement eventually stops working? It is a 2 year old ZF so I'm not sure if it is a SH or VR version and I cant remember being so long ago and I have not opened the case yet to check. I did see a post that said the VR and VS versions were interchangeable and just wanted to confirm if all 3 are interchangeable.

Thanks again for the help, I'm really liking the forum!!

@dogwood

I am a newbie trying to buy a Daytona 116506 with the luminescent dial. After researching it thoroughly, I found out that CLEAN with the DD4130 mechanism is the way to go.

CLEAN seems to come with both DD4130 and SA4130 mechanisms for this model. I started reaching out to TDs to check availability and one of the reputable TDs claims that DD4130 vs SA4130 are the same mechanisms while another one says they are different and SA is lower quality.

I am confused and I would appreciate your input on this. I read your guide and appreciate it a lot!! One thing though, SA4130 is not mentioned among Daytona movements unless I missed it.

So are the DD4130 vs SA4130 identical or not? Thank you!

Yes and no. Some dealers refer to the DD4130 as SA4130. But not all Daytonas listed with SA4130 are DD4130.

Dogwood or others will correct if I'm wrong, but I believe if you buy and receive a CLEAN Daytona, you'll be sweet. Pretty sure CLEAN (and BTF) only use DD4130 AKA the SA4130.

@Chuck911 you are right to be paranoid about what you read on TD websites. And yes the naming of Daytona movements is a shit show. Here's why is specifically terrible apropos the "SA4130"... Noob Factory used to have exclusive access to the Dandong 4130 movement. Noob Daytonas were the bee's knees. But then Noob got raided and shut down. Suddenly there was no more Dandong 4130 movement. The only Daytona options were the thicc bois that had a 7750 movement inside (these 7750 daytonas were 14.5mm thick unlike gen which was 12.5mm). But then ARF figured out how to slim down a 7750 movement to make their 7750 daytonas around 13mm thick. These "slim" 7750 movements were unreliable and/or had some of their sub-dials non-functional (my memroy is hazy on this). But what's worse is that ARF marketed their "slim 7750" as an "SA4130". This label was completely inaccurate. A slim 7750 is NOT a 4130 and it never will be, the 7750 and the 4130 movements are completely different designs and calling a slim 7750 a "super asian 4130" is an ouright lie. But those were desperate times and people wanted skinny daytonas and ARF wanted to brand draft on the "4130" name. So that's probably why some people might say that an "SA4130" is a shitty alternative to a "DD4130" -- if they remember the ARF marketing department lies about the slim 7750 being called an "SA4130" they are right to tell you that's a shitty alternative. But here's the good news: if you're buying a Clean Factory 11-series Daytona, it will come with a DD4130 movement inside. You don't need to worry about what it says on a TDs website; all Clean Factory 11-series Daytonas come with the DD4130 inside.

Any info on this suspected new 3235 movement from Clean?
I just saw these pictures on WeChat. Very interesting. I’ll have to update the guide once I have a bit more info. But at first glance it looks like Shanghai has updated their 3235 to remove the balance bridge decoration plate (and hopefully add a functional endshake adjustor). But it looks like the new Shanghai movement retains the vr3235’s 31xx style keyless works (blue arrow) vs the Dandong version which has a gen 32xx style keyless works (red arrow)… both arrows point to the intermediate winding pinion pivot which on the DD design is larger than on the Shanghai design.

Oh nice, another thing I noticed is that the regulator and "beat adjustor" (don't know the proper name) seems to be switched. On the DD the regulator is on the right side and on the SH on left side and the beat adjustor vice versa.

I just had a conversation with a TD about this very point.

They have a Clean 116500 v3 with a pictured DD4130 on their site, but they said the Clean 116500 never has the Dandong 4130 and that its the SH4130.

After providing a pic of the Dandong 4130 movement advertised on their site, and also a pic of the SH4130 (focusing on the different Balance), he' has said his website is correct and it's the DD4130.

Dandong, SH, SA4130 are all hyper confusing. The nomenclature is all messed up.

Before the SH4130 used in the APS/ZF, you can confidently say that the 4130 is SH or DD or even SA...

But now it's a jumbled mess lmao

For example, you can argue that the SL 4801 Peacock is technically a new Dandong 4130... so lmao....

At least it’s not as bad as the “is a hotdog a sandwich?” debate… but at least in that case the chaos eventually brought forth a Grand Unified Theory of Food Identification:
