Specs on it? Thanks
This watch is JKF 5512.
The lugs of the case and the CG were shaved
Replaced the plexi with a cheap T-19 from ebay
Replace bezel insert with a cousinsUK service font
Pip from athaya

I will now replace the bezel with a clark bezel and see what happens.

How would you compare the Clark assembly with the stock JKF?
Someone, please correct me if I'm wrong, but the JKFs all had an oversized retaining ring and required a crap plastic gasket to fit the crystal. While it was maybe 5 years ago, the JKFs were a nice pack for the punch. I liked them! My only dislike was an oversized retaining ring and a thick case back. I sanded a few case backs with good results for a thinner watch, but I always replaced the bezel assembly with something genuine spec'd.

So for me, a Clark assembly would be a pure win.

A plastic crystal with a plastic gasket wrapped around it might not even be safe for a shower, god forbidden a swimming pool or a bath.

Just my experience, but maybe there have been upgrades. I just refuse to have a watch I can't confidently swim with.

I keep my watches far from water, so not a concern. I don’t know many people who would bring a gen 5513 in a shower

I don’t remember any gasket. I replace the crystal anyway. But given the construction of the JKF and the tolerances i see on naked eye, no way this thing is water resistant

Absolute correct,
also a GEN 5513 (or also 1680) - I think no one would take such "old" beauty to his diving trip nor go swimming with it.
Same for the vintage GMT models .... no matter if GEN or REP ... just my opinion.

To go swimming, take a shower or to snorkel - there are newer REPs much more convenient like a 16600 / 16610 ...

I also purchased this JKF in 2019.
But it seems to be different from your case.

I replaced the plexi but the retaining ring was so tight that it needed to be modified with a little dremel.

I think it depends on the plexi
The stock plexi is super loose

I also have a hard time fitting the ring with a SternKreuz T19

I had a total of three JKF 5513 and 5512.
One was converted to 1680 using Clark's T-127. , one was a sternkreuz low dome, one was a cheap T-19 from ebay, and all had tight retaining rings.

I agree that the standard JKF plexi was loose.

My Clark bezel assembly came in today. Waiting on gen spec case back gasket to come in. Hope that waterproofs the build but I’m about resigned to it being a showpiece. Bezel shape is definitely nicer than bivintage.

I received a set of bezels from clark.
As you pointed out, the surroundings are not mirror finished.

I polished it to a mirror finish with sandpaper and Dremel.

Anybody have hands on with these bezel assembly's? From the pictures they look quite good.

The bezel set was discussed in this thread.
I hope this is helpful.

By the way, clark's bezel set is hard and needs to be machined for rotation.

Since it was years ago, I might be confusing the JKF bezel assembly with the type on some BP watches I purchased at the same time. Looking back at my pictures, maybe I replaced the JKF bezel because it was really thick, like a more modern submariner. Is the bezel thicker?
