I have no interest in any engravings, which is what draws me to the Milk case but the rehaut is an issue... I have seen them sleeved, but it would be nice to get a V2 with that corrected. Would be interested in the 2824 low beat solution but I'd like the 24XX/27XX movement for the correct dial feet position. 24XX would be a better fit to a 5513 GEN spec case (stem height) but would need a 0.21mm seconds hand or pinch the wheel. I really want a GEN-spec 2784 movement ideally though. Sorry for taking this off topic!

For .21 seconds hand you can just use nh35 hands

@buslor66 just to be clear I meant that the stem that comes in the jkf could be too short, not different. That’s why there is a possibility that you would need a new stem.
Haha!...I think we've got our wires crossed a little!

I wasn't referring to the stem being the 'twisted' type perse; I knew if anything the stem might be too short absolutely.

I'd just read posts about the helical type being in some movements and was just trying to clarify the a2836-2 was the square type...which it seems it is.

I'd read they ceased using the helical type (can't recall the reason though)...

Anyway, I've ordered various items; I will still try the original stem though...if it is okay then at least I'll have a spare ;).

Thanks @Megahz1 for your assistance friend!

I had trouble fitting oem spec T19 crystals to DW (David Wong) '5513' cases about 15 years ago and had to go through quite a few crystals to find one that would fit using an oem spec crystal retainer ring. The DW case neck (crystal mounting area) on the case was a hair too small in diameter, it should be 28.2mm.
Below is a (partial?) list of GS T19 etc. crystals...

Interesting that is the exact same problem as the Milk case!

Here is my first try, inspired by this thread.
Rifflesdials parts, Totally reshaped.
Dial and hands baked in coffee.
Blue insert bleached, but I do not like this look - new one is already on the way to me.
Athaya crown/tube.
A2824 from e. Bay.

Great first effort! Well done! The insert has gone too far for me as well but a lot of folk like that look so probably worth something to someone to offset a replacement and then get an Athaya acrylic pip!

Thanks! I think with a standard blue bezel this watch will be wearable :)

Anyone experienced with switching out crystal on the 5513? I’m interested in installing a Michael Young T19 Superdome and would love some tips and tricks!

quite straightforward. The crystal fits on the outside of the rehaut

You need a crystal press to fit the bezel assembly. Just be careful not to crack the crystal

Ahh, so probably better of letting a watchmaker doing it if I don’t have a crystal press then.

Thanks for the quick response! Have seen you be very helpful here in the threads:)

if you are interested to do modding, the press is a very versatile tool and on Ali you can get a good one for cheap

Also, if you have access to a vice, a PVC pipe that fits the retaining ring can be used to install. Just gradually turn the case and make sure the retaining ring is flat every time you press it closer.
Press down a little, turn the case and inspect, press down a little more, turn... etc.
The main issue is making sure the retaining ring stays aligned. If it's crooked, you can bend the ring, crack the crystal, or both. It's very simple, but it's easy to mess up if you don't pay attention.

It's as easy as can be! Just don't make a mistake!!!

Hello, I've assembled my first 5513 replica with parts from Raffledials.

Assembly process toolk a couple of hours (first watch I assemble completely) and first time with an ETA 2824...

Only visble defect on the parts was a minor imperfection in the dial on the top triangle. The rest quite ok speecially value for money.

The end result

Is very nice...

But when compared to the Real one is when you see the differences:

The glass is too bumpy original is different (any suggestion for a repllacement plexy more like the real one?

The dial has thinner lines and more separated from whatch case body...

Angles where the crown goes have to be adjusted as in the tutorial. polishing at short distance is not as good as the old rolex (45 years old)

The higher BPM from the 2824 is noticeable but i like it...

Conclusion: being the first watch I have built from parts I think the raffledials parts offered good quality for money not perfect but nice to wear and if you are not an expert tricky to see the difference...

Question: Is the VSF case a good value for money vs this?

Never tried a Raffles 5513 but for <400€ build the JKF 5513 is the best base

I don't think VSF does any vintage.

The issue with Raffles is that the bezel assembly is not same as gen, but uses a spring wire. Makes the disassembly awkward and changing the crystal more difficult that it should be.

you can buy them on Cousins UK

The main advantage of a Raffles build is the choice in dials

Thank you for the info on the glass. I hope it works in the raffles case…

the Raffles ended a little more than half the cost of the vsf… so there is still plenty of budget for mods…
