my qcs are in. got sent an LV instead.. no worries. already on its way to me.
This is certainly a worthy addition to any collection. Even way more so if the bezel operates acceptably well. I keep a lot of reps totally stock if there are no glaring eyesores, this is one that could well fit into that category.
Pros
Datewheel looks fine, could indicate a better movement.
Dial, hands, crystal, lug chamfers, bezel and pip all look very good. This sample insert doesn't have the too long two tail.
Rehaut doesn't look too deep or wokky.
Clasp looks great, coronet is centered
Cons
CGs ofc
Crown protrudes slightly from case
Given the scarcity of decent 16610 reps available, this is a no brainer. If you don't have a TC and don't want a BP I wouldn't pass this one up.
I think BPs sometimes get a bad rap, I have a few and like them fine. Here's a quick comparison with some of their characteristics. They all have too wide chamfers but better CGs.
Stock 2824 - Note the correct hour hand, wrong maxi second hand, wrong datewheel position. CGs slightly shorter than 3135 version.
Stock SA3135 - Note the wrong maxi hour and second hands, CGs longer than 2824 version
Stock SA3135 - Hands corrected with BP SA3135 LN hour and second hands
BPs still have the crappy SA3135, but sometimes they are OK. In the one in that last pic the movement has run fine untouched going on two years. So it was like $358 plus $35 for the LN handset. It works for me. I don't feel the need to buy another Kermit rep but if you don't already have one, this ARF should certainly check that block.
