IMO - the lure of the Pam is that it evokes warm comfortable childhood memories. Memories and warm-fuzzies of a time long since past when we, as simple pre-schoolers, used to draw watches and clocks that look EXACTLY like Pams.
For me, it is the clean, simplistic lines of Panerai.
Plus, I like having something that most do not know of... I mean, you seem them notice and possibly stare, but 90% have no idea of what I am wearing.
I agree completely. I have worn my 111h as my daily since I got it. People ask me what kind it is and when I tell them they are like "Okay?" They are clueless. One guy even asked me if he could get one at Wal-Mart. I just laughed, and said I would doubt it.
it seems the majority are the same, come looking for one brand and end up finding others.
i came looking for an omega PO,i didnt care about panerai but the more ive seen, the more ive been drawn towards them so ive just ordered one from robert.a 212 flyback on rubber.i cant say im mad for them but once its here, then ill know.
i only started getting decent reps a few weeks ago, until then it was all very low end stuff as you can see from the omegas in the bottom tray(pic).
i dont know if the pams will ever take over from the omegas but there is something about them thats got my attention.
its understated elegance at its finest
I'm into them now too, I discovered them here, a Pam 088 ended up being my 1st Rep. I have an Omega SeaMaster Chrono, but I think my next purchase with be another Pam.
The 88 I have came with a steel bracelet, but I decided to change it after a few months. Here's a shot of the Carbon strap I got for it from Panatime. I find I can beat this pretty hard and strap still looks brand new.
