So when are you going to setup a photo shoot with all of your watches?!?! You sir, have some epic watches. Would love to see them all.

Congrats on the new piece. We've been lucky @TheSociety has bigger fish to fry and it "moving" his collection.

Thank you good sir! Your comment certainly makes my morning.
And yes, you're absolutely right, @TheSociety is probably on to something legendary, taking his sweet time, it's still a big secret though!

Was able to pick my newly dialed/gen bezel 6263 up today. Unfortunately, it was on the way back from the doctor's office - sinus infection is killing me!

I installed my MJ Leather strap as well. The patina will look better over time. The color is a dead match for the hour markers on the dial, which is exactly what I was going for. Pretty soft and comfortable too.

Thanks again @TheSociety - the gen bezel is perfect!

There is just something gravitating about reference 6538 - aka the "James Bond" sub. It was the watch that got me into Rolex and ultimately vintage Rolex. Hope you guys like this build!

There are several variations to this ref. including Gilt or silver hands, silver or red triangle, white or silver and large or small seconds hand - among others dial variations. I included one shot of my personal watch to show a slightly different variant. Both beating with genuine Rolex Caliber 1030 movement - the same ones these rare big crowns originally come with!

To me, the big crown is just the ultimate Bond watch! No other Bond watch of later years can match!

@TheSociety ... would please give me some info (if you have some) about the Tudor C390 movement ?
I mean "price level" and "reliability".

I'm just on the first step for a "circa 1959 Tudor 7928" build and I wonder if I wont, at least for that watch, leave the "low budget" way and try to build something better.
I'll start with a Cartel case (highly reworked), a DIY Gilt dial (I'm working on the design), gen specs ... and then ????
I really think I could fit a C390 in a Cartel case and I've seen some of them, ticking and "keeping good time", for about $700.
So do you think it's too cheap to be good, or too expensive ... I really have no idea.
The good thing is that movement is based on a Fleurier ébauche, FEF 350, so it's possible to get "low budget" spare parts if needed (though the parts wont be branded).
Plus even if I start with a very low budget movement, a 2813, I can even reuse, for some time, the handset with a little broaching.
The idea is to build a watch that I will keep and that could be upgraded all along its life.

Now some pics ... Tudor 7928 ... C390 movement ... Fleurier FEF350

I do not suggest a cartel for this build as cartel generally have the wrong crown position. In addition to that it will not fit the movement anyways. I would start with a gen spec case, then you could use ETA first while you wait for the perfect 390.
