Sonofalich I know what you mean. But reps are for myself, not other people. So I take joy in how close they are to gen, and tells like that bother me. So when I look at my own wrist, I see it. And for me it stands out quite loudly. So its not like im scared Id get called out. The SEL like its made for a different bracelet because of that. But sure, most people are probably less anal about these thing. I would in now way put this rep bracelet on a gen. But a gen bracelet would make this rep dangerously close to perfection

YellowFin someone once noted on this thread that maybe sourcing the MK version’s SEL and having them fitted might work. The MK’s is nicely flattened like the rest of the bracelet. However I am not aware of anyone trying it. I might at a stage. Still contemplating.

Fair enough, I think it's a very personal thing for sure :)

Either way enjoy!

With my eyesight, I'd probably need a loupe to see it - so wouldn't be a problem for me :)

looking at mine with a loop and it is still VERY difficult to tell. I took a bunch of super close up macro pics and if you want the honest truth I do think I can tell. I do not have pics of a gen though that are that close up of this very small area so I don't really know what the Gen is like but there is a VERY minor difference between the end link and the others. Here is the thing: 1st hardly anyone is aware of this tell & even if they were would they ever be able to notice it. I know about it and if I saw someone with this watch there is absolutely no way I would ever be able to tell without asking them to remove the watch from their wrist and whipping out a loop and inspecting it. If I have their watch off already the movement is a much easier tell.

I bet you could set down a rep and a gen next to each other and if you told 100 non RWI members that one was a Rep and the other was a Gen and asked them to identify any differences & gave them 5 minutes to do so without any outside help not one would identify this "tell."

Nanook65 you are correct. Thats why I stated for me its not about what other people think of my watch. Its what I know and see about my own. I see that difference quite clearly as a matter of fact. To me its really strange that it bothers no one else :) i dont even think I have exceptional eyesight, lol

I thought it would be very obvious, but in real life it's really not that apparent. I think the crown guards are a way easier tell. And you can always wear it on the rubber strap instead! Haha..

I’m with you. Endlinks even as far back as on the original smp reps of 2005 and 2006 onwards always got the end links wrong and in my view it’s one of the flaws I struggle to get past!! That’s the beauty of being able to source gen NATO’s etc.

here you go

Thanks! Now I know what you're talking about, the polished sections on the end links are flush with the brushed sections on the gen and protruding on the rep.

Not a very noticeable tell unless you know what you are looking for, in my opinion. For me, not obvious enough to spend the money on a gen bracelet.

Hi.. Can I replace the 20mm bracelet of Seamaster 300m diver with the 20mm rubber strap of Aqua Terra? Will it fit? The Aqua Terra rubber strap is comfortable and beautiful to my eyes.
B42No.jpg

Ive seen it done on a silver dial gen with a blue aqua terra strap and it was stunning. A few pics floating arounf on IG as well. I believe you may need curved springbars and/or to shave the corners of thr rubber. Regardless it can be done albeit possibly requiring some minor manipulation and fiddling around with incredible results.

I have read every post here in this thread and I have followed this thread from Day 1. I bought V1 very early on and same for V2, but I still don't know what people are talking about with the crown guard. I have heard this before, but has anyone actually posted comparison pictures? If they have, can you point me to them & if not could someone post pics of both.

I would have thought that by now someone would have done a Gen vs Rep of this one, but to my knowledge that also has not been done. I know there are several guys that are here that have both. Maybe they don't have good photography skills or don't have the time or what not. I have a nice light tent and all the gear + know how to take excellent pics and am willing to do a Review comparison, but I don't have a Gen so if I could borrow a Gen for 1 day I would do it. Anyone?

I can’t see much difference here. Gen vs rep. VSF on left. Gen on right.

When the crown of the rep (thats little bit longer) os crewed down, it pronounces the shorter lugs of the rep. So a good comparison would be with screwed down crowns on both. Maybe botsyboy can help, I think he has highlighted it before
