oh right.. I was just about to order a VSF 124270, so maybe I should change that to the clean one, which seems to be a little bit cheaper.
what is "bad" about the VR3230 in Clean btw? I know it's not a complete replica like the VS3230, but that wouldn't bother me.. Is it the power reserve that's worse?

Only 1 thing wrong on this release...

The Crown is smaller than it should be. (It should be similar to the crown on the explorer II's.

Otherwise it looks great!

I'll update with pictures when it's here ... I'm hoping it can accept a Gen spec crown. I have a spare from a C+F explorer II and another from a GMF explorer II

Crown from the GMF or C+F explorer II doesn't fit... But overall it's such a beautiful rep of the 224270. The smaller crown suits it IMO

Sadly, I cannot get past the shitty dial typograpy on this - and it’s a fail of Rolex.

Why does it have a more condensed, and different logo to that used on a Submariner?

Why TF is “explorer” squashed in at the top, under OP which is also squashed vs every other watch they make?

Why isn’t it under the pinion like it is on every other watch they make?

Why are the designers at Rolex so stupid?

Could be beautiful, unfortunately my mother could have done a better job on dial design.

I tried both the GMF and C+ F explorer crowns.

If the vsf had a gen spec 7230 case tube, the C+F crown or a Gen crown would fit no problem... But it uses the 5340 case tube that's used on the VSF Datejusts, and CF datejusts.

You would have to install the 7230 case tube (with a tap/drill), I think that's the only choice besides waiting for VSF to update it. So if you have the tools, do it up! I can give you my C+F crown.

You can install a 5330 case tube(with a tap/drill... I tried to install without on the VSF but the diameter of the 5330 is slightly wider and only screwed in 1-2 turns in the VSF exp case) and take my GMF explorer crown. I may even have the original case tube that goes with this GMF crown.

I think this might be my 2nd purchase as a daily. I don't have a gen to compare it against but can anyone tell if VSF got the lugs right on this version I've heard that they are known to not be the most accurate on that detail.

Just got mine, first impressions it’s pretty damn nice. I would prefer they didn’t move the EXPLORER but well, they did. Think the crown will have to be done.

Last generation was 36mm (114270) and 39mm (214270). Newest generation is 36mm (124270) and 40mm (224070). Not much difference in the two, the newer 40mm is (obviously) larger, with slightly different proportions, and moves the "EXPLORER" from the 6:00 position to the 12:00 position on the dial.

40mm 224070 on left.________________________________________________________________________39mm 214070 on right.

Lugs on the new one are 21mm as well, rather than 20mm on the older one.

personally, I felt the Exploerer wording at bottom half make the dial more symmetrical

Agreed. Maybe a personal preference thing but the 39 is better than the 40.... dial is better spaced and the proportions look better somehow

Does the 39mm and 40mm share the same gen crown? What is the parts no. for the crown?
