Finally my franken vsf 116610 is complete (for now)!

It has gen dial, hands, bezel, date wheel and crystal and I think it looks fucking amazing!

Will possibly look for some movements parts next starting with gen balance/hairspring.

It certainly looks amazing. I have a recent VSF sub, and whilst it looks pretty legit at arms length, I have noticed issues with the dial, e.g. At the center the dial is not flat, it bends downwards. Replacing the parts as you have done, is worthwhile. I am all about the visual match, the internals not so much. Hell i’d even put a quartz movement in a good looking exterior.

Have undertaken a similar build myself.

The inward dial 'dimple' occurs on gen. The dial is metal, with the centre hole punched resulting in what you're describing.

Other subtleties on the dial include the WG hour markers. Ditto for the hands, which can be perceived as 'flat' relative to gen.

Edit: could also probably argue that the rolling of the inner hole is by design to provide lateral rigidity to an otherwise flat sheet of metal.

Everyone spends so much time looking at zoomed in images of high def screen captures of these watch faces, it’s like standing in front of a grandfather clock. We are all getting older, and I can barely see that it says Rolex on the face when I’m trying to look at the time! By adding all these gen parts, you aren’t changing anything that can only be inspected under a microscope. Enjoy it for what it is or buy a gen. Adding £$2k of parts still makes it a fake

The same thing happens to me! I barely see the logo... what a frustration...

Do you mean the little dimple in the center pinion? That happens on gen too

Completely agree. Gen is gen.

In the scheme of things a couple of grand into a build over several months isn't a major cost. If it was, then there are wider concerns as to whether someone can realistically 'pull off' the image.

I've largely reached the cost to benefit ratio of upgrading my sub and will continue to wait on the call from AD (12 series no date). Gave them a deadline of my birthday, else I'll go grey.

In terms of my subc for 1/5ths of the cost, 10ATM water resistance, gen appearance and within 2 secs a day accuracy, I'm happy enough to wait it out.

That’s good for you man. My collection is all gen but I undertook this project as a fun little side quest… finding parts all over the world was fun. Now the build and look is even more fun.

People can wear and do and wear what they want and don’t need to see your snarky ass remarks 🤣

I have a 124060 on the way (with the new VS3230 movement). Could I replace the bracelet with an ARF one from Ali if I'm not happy with the VSF one? Do I need a bracelet specifically for the 124060, or shouldn't a 126610 bracelet do the job as well (there seem to be more listings for that model)?

I just bought the best version from VSF from trusty time, for the black date:

Hope I did a good choice. What do you guys think? Looking forward to receiving it

Do you have the link from ALI of the ARF bracelet? I love my vsf one but curious.

You said you bought the best version so you can’t get anything better. I think you’re gonna be happy with your purchase man. However you can’t believe everything the TDs tell you because I think mine is the best version. Just saying

Ok, so, no offense, but buying first and researching later is a HORRIBLE way to do anything in life...

At least researching the VSF sub after buying it isn’t likely to lead to regret! There are a lot worse options to have chosen and really nothing dramatically better in the price range.

Yes, but I just find this trend very stupid.... maybe some people have more money and care less but if I was to fork over $500 for ANY product, especially a non necessary item like a watch, some research is in order....

Thanks for the comments!
I totally agree with you and wish could spend 500 without looking but was not the case.
I did my due diligence which lead me to VSF.
Was considering an easier movement/easier to repair as I already have a Clean Daytona that drains me with the maintenance but…VSF is VSF.
I also asked the dealer and he confirmed that this model is the most recent/best from VSF.

I was a bit surprised as I found 100$ difference among TD’s for the same model. Hope I did a good choice
