Has VSF still not fixed the sel gaps and problems or is it just my luck? Here is a QC I got yesterday also the pip looks a bit off. Of course I didn't approve it, now I'm waiting for a new one.:cautious::cry:

Just a batch by batch, watch by watch issue. Actually, the lack of consistency in VSF QC is why Clean is preferred in the local market. But if you get a good VSF, it's very good.

I would red light that by the way.

Would you guys redlight the below watch due to the SEL gap?

Honestly, it's a mix of things. If that watch you showed me had perfect rehaut alignment, good date alignment, but that tiny SEL gap, I would still take it. But if the watch maybe had some additional issues alongside that SEL gap then I would reject it.

But if you look at H0lyone's, you can fit a goddamn truck in the SEL gap, it's too obvious

It was kind of a trick question from my side wanted to prove a point.

Have you ever seen a gen?

Because that gap should be there and they all will shine light through if the angle was correct.

I took my gen off my wrist and took that pic.

Here's the same gen:

So green light your QC's the watches are perfect :)

Haha, you got me there. Often we seek perfection for reps when gen is not even that perfect.

But I'll say this. At the price we pay TDs compared to local market, we absolutely should be able to reject 1-2 watches... they make very healthy margins on VSF subs.

It looks like you got the new color bezel. It’s a different shade on the gens too.
It’s hard to capture its true color to sources of light in pictures. My picture was auto enhanced on the iPhone. Mine looks like yours sometimes. I have a lot of natural light, it seems the green really comes out in response to natural light. But in direct sun, the radiance seems subdued. The in between is the sweet spot. For my insert anyways.

Nice watch! Although I would add, the 11 series have different SEL fit than the 12 (which is what he RL). It’s probably why they say the VSF 11 reps are more accurate because of this. The 12 subs are very precise. But I have seen one gen with uneven fit in one corner. I’m sure it’s more common than people think.

Lighting does play its game. I think the crystals are mineral crystals and not true sapphire but they’re really good.

Out of curiosity, how much does a vsf submarine cost in Shenzhen or Guangzhou?

The 40mm series go for 2100-2400yuan

The 41mm series go for 2400-2600 yuan

Consider that this is retail price, the wholesale must be at least 20-30% lower for those people to make money... so the real cost of one is insanely low....

For real????? Even with the operation's cost they must get a giant profit margin.

Yes. But if you consider TDs are actually risking their actual lives and prison time in an authoritarian regime, then I actually think the profit margin is fine. Would you like to make 150k euros a year but with the risk of 5 -10 years in jail? Additionally, I would still suggest most people to use a TD, especially if you live in the EU. Customs seizures are no joke.

Also, this price disparity only exists with the really popular models. Most "non"popular models, aka VSF Sub, and Clean Daytona/GMT.

I've seen most models have a lower price discrepancy. For example, the price of a BP Explorer in local market is around 1700 yuan. Hont sells one for 298 usd.. so only a $60 markup...

Like, my XF Pam 111 cost $218 from Hont, the local market price was 1400 yuan so $193... so he made $20 off that PAM... lol

For 150k no but for 500k/year risking 5y in a west european prison, count me in!!

.......just kidding

how can you tell it?
The only way I know is to see what will scratch it. Sapphire known as corundum can only scratched by something harder like diamonds or as hard like rubies and sapphires which are both corundum just slightly different composition. Diamonds are a 10 on the hardness scale and corundum is a 9. Mineral crystals are softer so they can be scratched by softer material. Lots of quartz which is like a high 7 to low 8 on the hardness scale. The clarity of sapphire crystals compared to mineral crystals are night and day.

I went to a very friendly AD a couple of months back. They let me try on all the watches there and take loads of photos. Almost every watch there had SEL gaps (like in your pic). The spring bar was clearly visible with light passing through. In my mind, I thought, if it were rep nerds, they would've RLed them. People overthink all these issues.

I wish I had those photos I took. Unfortunately, I changed phones and it's in a memory card that I misplaced. Just my luck.
