@legend may know if the gen/rep 26331 dials, hands and DWs will be compatible with this new clone movement. I think the 4401 movement won't fit the 26331 CNC case because both the 4401 movement and its case are thicker than those of the 26331 watch.Would this movement be able to be used to build a 26331?
I don’t think so, it is thicker than the FP 1185Would this movement be able to be used to build a 26331?
Likely no because the dw position of the 26331 dial, and the dw position on the 26240 are different, even if the rest can be modded to fit.@legend may know if the gen/rep 26331 dials, hands and DWs will be compatible with this new clone movement. Well, if it is not for the 26331 (41mm), it is definitely not for the 26715 (38mm) which is my preference. The 26420 (43mm), despite its amazing designs, is simply too big to my liking. I'm still undecided about the 26311.This movement will be for the 26420 not the 26331.
Interesting, thought it would be pretty reliable being a gen movementTaking this into a slightly different direction but I did a full blown 26331ST build (Panda) with a gen 1185 movement. It is absolutely stunning. That said, I am having issues with the movement (doesn’t reliable run when fully wound, but then starts running when I start the chrono). This limits how much I can wear it and I’d love to fix it. Is there a good US-based watchmaker who can service this 1185 movement?
The gen 1185 movement isn’t the best one where luxury watch chrono calibers go. There are several inherent issues with it. You can do a google search and learn this easily.Interesting, thought it would be pretty reliable being a gen movement
May I ask how much you paid for it? How much do these go for?Taking this into a slightly different direction but I did a full blown 26331ST build (Panda) with a gen 1185 movement. That's what I thought too but some TD had told people to hold off on their 26331 builds because it would be much more economical to build an AP Chrono with this upcoming SH4401, but I guess they were referring to the 26240. Personally I prefer the 26331 with their contrasting sub dials to the 26240
1185 is a rather thin movement which might make it difficult to be successfully rapped for the factories.Oddly enough, personally I feel the movement maker in question should have repped the 1185 rather than the 4401. As we know the 1185 by F. Piguet is used in several different watches, Blancpains, Omegas, VC's etc. so this movement could have had many applications.
What we can only assume is that the rep factories want the latest and greatest so they went with the 4401 which at this point can only power 1 watch model. Oh well, this is certainly exciting regardless!
My dream would be a 39mm chronograph rep but that's not happening.Personally, I prefer the offshores of the old days, but with a clone chrono movement coming up, definitely no harm to try the 26240 in future
Real nice. V72 build? Or modified cartel w Viet dial? Eitherway great stuff.
Well technically it’s a thread for the 4401 cal and nobody knows if it can be used for this Daytona. So unless proven otherwise you’re good.
That’s a beautiful ROC!
