@silver.forever To me that sounds incredibly painful and unless you come by that knowledge passively you must have a passion for it to pursue it. The series letter of the dial for a reference indicates the color and slight variations happen within series even. If you consider buying a Gen dial know that without Gen hands the tone of the Stainless steel hands and the dial markers won’t match. Might as well get Gen hands and a Gen crystal to see it all through for the full experience. I had a blck Gen dial franken and here is a photo of it!

Unless the watch is under a certain light where an obvious hue is present it’s almost impossible to tell which series it’s from.

What a beauty. Thank you for the picture and reference. I am currently writing with @Nikz19 for the project and wonder if it might be possible to polish and plate the hands. I heard that other people were doing that to have the dial markers and hands look similar and more authentic.
Has someone here done the Hand plating mod?

So I got to try on a gen ROO 42mm Chronograph recently, the black waffle dial, I really do love it but it can only be wearable if it is 14.5mm thickness. I know if it's thicker like 16-17mm then its unwearable. It's a bit big for me, the 15202/15450 is my ideal size.

I want to buy a APSF 42mm ROO and then modify to slim case back down and remove deco plate + rotor and shavs all of that to get it to gen thickness. Is there any guide I can show my watch maker? Is it difficult to do?

Thanks all.

Some modders already how to do this without you having to show them. 14.5mm thickness is possible for a 42mm ROO rep.
It’s not difficult if you know how to do it (I’ve done this mod for more than 50 watches myself) and I’ll recommend a waterproofing and pressuretest after the thinning is done as well.

Thanks. I would actually send it to you or ask you to do it since I'm in SEA half the year for business, but my country is absolutely horrible at customs, they see a watch coming from Singapore they'll open it no matter what which is just a hassle, so I'm trying to keep it in country 😪

I understand but I wasn’t offering my services, and was just answering your question and giving an example. It’s not a mod you need to guide a good modder on.

Hello all, and a special hello to mr legend (no homo. No homo pho). I had a question regarding the 15202. I am well aware that these watches are simply novelty items but I am determined to find/make a really good replica of the 15202 as its one of my favourite watches and is now prohibitively priced in the watch market.

My question is that; are the cnc machined cases from china worth it or is modding a zf case to gen spec going to yield the same results? Also is the dp dial currently the best after market dial for the 15202? I honestly did as much research as I could but i couldnt find any definitive answers, nor do i hope to find any here, but any information would be very appreciated. I intend to make a watch with all rep parts but may go to the dark side and get a gen movement with custom rotor if budget allows.

Modding a ZF or xf case to fit the 2121 movement is good enough and the “best” dial currently IMHO is still a modded ZF dial (to each his own).
Thank you, I really appreciate the information

I am the proud owner of an AP Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar in black ceramic. I live with its quirks (such as the hand that is supposed to indicate the weeks, yet shows seconds) and revel in the aesthetic pleasure it brings me. I am keen to expand my collection with the same model, but this time in a stainless steel execution. In conversation with my Trusted Dealer, I did not receive clear answers to my specific queries - namely, whether the craftsmanship of the case and bracelet is equivalent to that of other APSF models (e.g., the AP 15400). I would be grateful if any of you could draw upon your experience to assist me with an answer to this question

Could you please inform me if it's possible to install a gen dial on the latest APSF 15450 with the A3120 movement? Would any additional modifications be necessary? Thank you for your assistance😄

Yes a gen dial can be fit. You can refer to the ultimate Royal Oak thread that is stickied here in AP too. Composed by the one and only, the best - @legend.

Hello and welcome to RWI!

I have an APSF 15400 SS latest version bought from a TD in here. My watch passes the eye test in a crowd of watch enthusiasts and Gen AP owners.
Maybe I got lucky, but unless you are @legend or a dealer inspecting the watch, you're good with this one.

For me, it’s never about whether others can tell your watch is a rep or not. The thing is you will always know, no matter how it appears to others and yourself. Some members are pleased with that perception (nothing wrong with that) and others will start to mind the discrepancy between what it appears to be and what it really is over time. Owners come in all types and some owners continue to wear their reps or bring it to another level, which is also what this hobby is about. Others become enamored with their watches and seek to buy the gen.
As long as one is happy, there is no right and wrong. I’m glad you are happy with your watch and I hope you will continue to be so.

If I buy a ROO 42mm on a bracelet, and I wish to switch it to rubber and/or leather, I need to purchase the plots right? Or does the plots for bracelet work with leather?

Sorry, this is a noob question but I couldn't find the answer and I didn't know if rep and gen were the same in this case.

You can’t remove the bracelets plots. So yes, you’ll need separate plots to switch to strap. And the clasp of course. It’s the same on the gen.

I was wondering if anyone could give me some help with QC for an APSF15500 - for me it looks great. Read on RWI that there could be an issue with datewheel quicksetting, and to check that on QC. Since I don't know if it's a NOGO to post QC links in here, i'll just wait for an answer to pm the link :geek:

Politics, lol.

Good afternoon gentlemen, the side of the bracelet has this part starting to fall down. Any ideas to fix it
