Air brush...damn, another tool I forgot I had...impulse bought one at Harbor Freight because it was on sale, lol.
Airbrushing is fun. I went a bit too heavy handed on this one to the point that it dulled the text too much from overspray. Hard to see the text now and it bugged me so I ordered a new one for the case. Going with the new black one for simplicity this time around. I really need a laser CNC and a pad printer sigh.

i love the rattle too 😅
I actually twisted and loosened my JKF 5513 bracelet to get that feel.

The real issue is to get the springbar to fit. It's about 0,5mm off I think. Anyway I have no use for that 580, and I like the challenge

EDIT: I had a good look at it and tried a few things. Too much tweaking is needed. I will buy the 280 or 455b after all. I am happy to do work, but this is not worth it

I have been going back and forth about this in my mind. I think I don't really like the tropical look. I prefer grey tones to the brown/orange.

Now, an airbrush would be interesting to do the "white speckles" that you see sometimes.

how do you guys do case engraving? stamp and hammer, freehand engraver, laser? I was disappointed to see that the Raffles case is full sterile

I am working on a project for a member and I received the raffles mk2 dial the other day and its quite nice !! The lume is not as lemon yellow as expected and its a bit rough exposing some white print underneath to give the look of lume shrinkage. I am going to age the lume and dial surface with weathering paints and will report back. But it looks great as is imo. But a lil bit of age wont hurt.

Planning on trying saltwater etching for the engraving between lugs. There's a thread somewhere with some very encouraging results. Also have my eye on a laser engraver attachment for a 3D printer...less than $100, and if it can't do the metal, it could at least laser cut the stickers for the saltwater method.

As far as airbrushing for patina...has anyone tried dry brushing? In my youth, we used to dry brush models and figurines to give them an aged and dirty look, I think it would work the same on a watch dial.

I've seen people doing aged looking Seiko mods using makeup. Specifically applying eye shadow using a small brush and adhering it by spraying it with matte lacquer.

I have experimented with cb engraving. A friend did this for me

A friend has a ender pla printet and a resin printer and we are experimenting on a few things. Going to look into the lazer attachment.

Yes. I use weathering paints to age the raffles 6350.

I used weathering paints to give my milsub a sun faded look

sorry guys. I am confused.
do I need the 280 or the 455B endlinks?
or do both work?

Raffles has the 280 with 2mm compatibility but twice the price of the 455B

I've got the 455B's here - they are 1.78mm and only compatible with the 1.78mm oyster bracelet from Ken.
If you wanted to use those with the fat 2mm spring bars you'd have to drill them out.
So what I'm saying is I don't know.
No, really I don't know - I was hoping my post would be the top of Page 100 of this thread...but that hasn't worked.
Just ignore me. I'm mad...rubbish, etc.

Just had a thought that this is why new members are intimidated and ask the questions we hate like "What's a good 1016 Explorer?"

Lol.
Maybe we should do a summary every 100th page...
