This the one with the Tamiya weathering paint treatment?
This is a MQ dial I got a number of years ago ,$$$ not true gilt and the lume flaked off about a year and a half into owning it which was seriously disappointing. I fixed the lume and aged the lume with air brush paints to make it all match. I aged the rest of the dial with some diluted isopropyl to dull the gloss a bit It looks how a 70 year old tool watch should look

This was the inspiration

This whole thing is amazing. Not sure if you've mentioned this before but is that bracelet a spring link aftermarket? Been looking for one that has the spring loaded links for a good long while. Stunning all the way around.

I also noticed today that my drilled lug holes have been getting quite stressed on my JMB
That is common on JMB re-drilled cases he really pushed the tolerances. As long as you are not removing spring bars 10 times a day they should be fine.

This was my only gripe with the jmb case sets was the 2 sets of lug holes on the inside of the lugs. not an issue if you wear on a bracelet but when your not its a bit of an eye soar I soldered the original ones in and filed smooth .

in regards the lume on the hands. that would be an easy match.

I think you were talking to me?

No its an old Silix / cartel bracelet that came with their big crown subs back in the day. it is folded link and rivets
Way back mary used to sell a very poorly done 6542 gmt that had a spring rivet bracelet I have also been on the hunt for one for quite some time.

Guys what do you think is the best dial? I only know Raffles, ruby and Yuki.

I was thinking of doing a build with the raffles case with sapphire crystal and a jubilee bracelet.

The idea is a "late production" and serviced watch concept where the watch is 30ish years old vs the battered 60-70 years old weathered. The overall look will be dressy vs adventurous. a bit like a transition model to the 14270. Dunno if that kind of model really existed

any thoughts?

That is roughly what I had in mind for my Raffles build - service hands and matte dial but then I got interested in using a T21.
Having now fitted the T21 and dremmelled the bezel out to a larger ID - the saphire crystal no longer fits (to loose) so I've lost that option.
I might at some point acquire a SC that does just to check it out.

Bear in mind too that back when I had my first gen - Sub (14060M) I never sent it to Rolex (Bexley uk) for service as back then there were some nightmare tales being told about it. I discovered a local Rolex specialist who has always got my watches since if it's something I can't do myself.
What I'm saying is - an unorthodox approach fits well if it's not going to Rolex - a saphire crystal fitted to a pre-saphire watch? - why not?, etc.
