I was thinking of doing a build with the raffles case with sapphire crystal and a jubilee bracelet.

The idea is a "late production" and serviced watch concept where the watch is 30ish years old vs the battered 60-70 years old weathered. The overall look will be dressy vs adventurous. a bit like a transition model to the 14270. Dunno if that kind of model really existed

any thoughts?
A year or so ago I did a build where we left the sapphire on the case and it does give it a recent service feel. (cant find those pics dammit) This is not the build but another example of how it looked as this builder next door He aged the dial and hands and it gives a unique perspective

The Raffles case with sapphire bears a 114270 number but is listed as vintage

I am a bit confused by it I must say. They illustrate it with a gilt dial. So I wonder if it's not a fantasy piece

Julibee was an option that Rolex sold, so this part is fine

The one I linked to is for 2824, the one you linked to is 2836.
You have to make a movement choice.

Yep. I tossed up between those two before settling on a 2824 build.
Glad I did as I was able to fir this nicely decorated Seagull ST2130 AND a VS or VR will drop in to that case without modification.

funny how things go. Initially I was ok with the cheap a28xx movements...now that I used the Seagull once, it's just so good that I am reluctant to use the cheapies again

I'm very impressed with the Seagull. I stripped and serviced it on delivery and timegraphed it in to 0.1 Beat Error and +/_ 3 secs/day in all major positions and it honestly hasn't missed a beat since.
If you're going to put one in long term I would recommend this action as you can find little burrs and bits that just got missed on QC but once addressed it's a top little "economic" 2824-2 clone.

Something like a Seagull 2824 clone gives you the max chance of a reliable movement with the minimal interference with the tweezers and screwdrivers and Oil.
I'd choose it over a VR or VS any day if I lacked the skills.

That having been said I have just purchased a VS3135 in order to inspect and see what is possible in terms of substituting Gen RLX parts in to it.

We are definitely in a transition era. The Chinese RLX clones are getting exceedingly good and with the ability to swap out Gen individual components the gap between Clone and Gen is contracting. Fast.

Interesting times for sure. Never a better time to be in to Reps.

I'd like to age this white Yuki hands to the same color as the ruby dial. Is there any easy way to turn this white lume into an ivory color?
Or if there is a hands set you often buy please let me know

11.11 season. I was looking at this...I love the concept of a modernized vintage explorer. What do you think about this SM?

I have a 214270. it's an awesome watch but I feel it does not have the same genes as the 1016.

In my opinion, they probably sell one of the best 1016 homage on the market.

The 39mm version and the 36mm version have excellently reworked the beauty of the original. The bracelet quality is also good.
It's just a shame that they discontinued the custom logo service.

I am really tempted to pop a Rolex logo dial in the 36mm, change the crown and put a glidelock logo clasp...

It will be a fantasy build, but why not
