Well… and there I was thinking I had seen it allJust wanted to share my build. Parts are as follows:
Gen 16013 case.
JMB Bezel
Gen Crown
Ebay dial I bought years ago
Vh31 Quartz movement
Clarks Crystal
I had this built for years with an ETA 2824 movement. I wanted to try something different. for those that don't know the Seiko Vh31 is a sweeping quartz movement. I made a quick video to show it here:
is the VH31 straightforward to install in the case? does it need a custom spacer or something like that?Vh31 Quartz movement

This looks great! What case did you use?V2 WIP
Had a real nightmare with this, maybe it was beginners luck with the 1st build but this seemed to fight me every step of the way.
Lots of issues mounting the dial and hands, you can see on the dial how chipped it is as a result really disappointed with this, it’s a Mochacha dial which I was really pleased with when it arrived (2nd hand) , just my own inexperience to blame, you will also notice some of the lume missing i tried to remove a light stain on the dial with deionised water which removed the lume almost instantly,
I also had to use an odd minute hand, the minute hand I lumed for some reason was too large for the movement, at this point with the damaged dial I looked at the build as a learning exercise rather than a finished item so just used what I had to get the watch back together and see if the components would work together
I do feel like it has taught me a lot which is always valuable
On the brighter side I’m really pleased with how the case, bezel and crystal turned out, my previous case was relatively expensive so I was hesitant to do much to it but with this $50 case I was really able to get stuck in, I had selected my end links prior to shaping so used them as a constant ref throughout to match the case to.
I was unsure about lowering the rehaut in case it caused fitment issues but it went to together fine and I’m really pleased with the look it has given the watch.
I do have a thin Raffles crown on the way but after that not sure what to do next,
my initial thought was to re lume another set of hands and try a Ruby dial however after researching cases so much I’m wondering about trying one of the Vietnam cases
that is actually pretty coolJust wanted to share my build. Parts are as follows:

With gens, I tend to buy when I find a deal, and sell when I can make a decent profit on the flip...so there's been a constant rotation of the collection, with the exception of a few I doubt I'll ever sell. With a little luck, a decent watch collection can be almost self sustaining this way.i wonder what you people do with all the builds? You sell? I don't see that much in M2M
Yeah, the build is the exciting part, after it's done, it goes into the rotation and gets worn here and there.I see.
I just finished my first 5513...having some issues with the movement and crown and waiting for parts...
and I am already itching to start a new project because I want to make a better one... but I was wondering what I was going to do with two 5513
I was sort of ashamed of myself that I did bot care that much about the end watch but rather enjoyed the building
I could easily replicate most of those burns , with the exception of the bulova . I think I could possibly do that as well but it would take a few attempts very cool tho.I'm kinda having a hard time finding the bottom of this rabbit hole, lol. 3 builds down, and still fascinated with the process of artificially "aging" a watch.
Has anyone ever tried to replicate "radium burns" on a dial? I have another dial incoming from Raffles, and considering suspending something hot slightly above the dial to replicate the marks that neglected vintage watches with radium lume often get where the hands stopped. Something like these would look really cool:
