Filed down and re polished all the removable end links to refine the appearance of the screw figment

Built the bracelet up and fitted it all to the finished case, thanks I have been wearing it around the house and it’s a great size I have a modern 39mm explorer and that always feels a bit too big this feels a much more suitable size.

Going to keep it on to make sure it looks and feels right then take it to bits, loctite it all then give is soak overnight in oil.

Hi all, just another quick question.
I know that everyone says for the T21 + WSO bezel, you have to widen the ID from 30.4mm to 30.5mm.
But if i put the crystal on the case and my caliper measures it as 30.55mm, should I widen the bezel to 30.55mm, or wider, like 30.65mm?

Basically what I’m asking is, should the bezel ID be 0.1mm wider than what crystal on the case measures, or be the same?

Thanks!

Hello, you have to go little less this value as the bezel will clamp by interference the crystal on the case, do you use a good caliper?

Yes, I have a good calipher.
I will upload some photos for measurements soon.
So the bezel ID should still be slightly less than crystal-on-case measurement.
Just slightly nervous because I don't want to be too tight and crack the crystal, but also I don't want to widen ID too much so it is loose.
I should just have bought multiple spare parts 💀

here's my measurements with my 2 1016s, both are using clark's T21 and both crystals measure 30.5mm.
with the WSO bezel, i widened the interior diameter to 30.6mm and it was a bloody tight fit
with the raffles bezel, ID was widened to 30.65-30.7mm and it was a bloody tight fit.

i would say just try to widen it to slightly more than 30.5mm, then try fitting it.
if it doesn't, widen it a little more.
at least that's what i did with both bezels ;)

Hopefully this works, clickpix is still being weird.

Also, it bears repeating that these engravings are incredibly small, each letter is about ~1 mm high, so it isn't a super noticeable thing on your watch. Particularly if you're going to wear it on the bracelet, it's not a super crucial upgrade. That said, I know how this hobby goes (I did buy engraving equipment specifically for this purpose after all...).

My T21 bezels from @1016 lover came today!!

Removed the acrylic crystal from Raffles case by placing it in the oven at 80C for twenty minutes, cleaned off the glue residue, put some liquid soap on the crystal and case (a trick from installing handle grips on motorcycles and bicycles... the soap dries and makes an unslippable bond), slipped the bezel onto the crystal and used the crystal press slowly and carefully, with increasing force to bring everything together...

What a difference the T21/besel combination makes to the overall impression - it really is all in the details with these vintage mods:

Next project - expanding lug holes to fit gen 2mm spring bars. I haven't had a setup to do the drilling, but then I remembered I had an old hand drill in the cellar, and a rusty drill press in the shed. They are not meant to be compatible, but I McGyvered a bodge with a bolt and a couple of washers... and it actually works superbly. Using a loupe to align everything, I have complete feeling for the bit, pressure and speed, and even though I crank very slowly, all four holes were done in ten minutes!

Next step - drilling and tapping the crown tube hole!

Gen-spec 2mm springbars fit perfectly, as does the T21 and bezel:

Widening the crown tube hole with the McGyver hand drill press worked flawlessly:

Used the McGyver for tapping as I don't have a small enough tap holder... really worked well as it held the tap perfectly vertically:

Only issue at this stage is that the thread on the crown tube appears to be coarser than the thread on the tap (3X0.3)

... will get this confirmed and hopefully I will be able to force the correct thread with the appropriate tap!
