I guess the question is whether this case fits a 2824 or a 2836 better. The one I ordered should get here soon, and then I can test it out between them.

If it fits 2836, then I may end up using this for my DJ build instead of the undrilled Raffles 2836 case.

Update on case.

Unless the new Raffles case has a larger pendant tube to case thread (2.91 mm on case tube), this is not a Raffles case.

Probably ideal for those that want a case to take the older 3.0mm x .35mm for 6.0mm crown.

Not something that currently interests me.

Included are measurements of the installed sapphire crystal, I popped it out.

Hey, nice find, have you measure the middle case diameter for crystal fitment?

The bezel angle look the same on the 2 cases, for the thickness it s possible that only the case back is less thick, but the case look really similar otherwise. Good alternative indeed

That seems smaller than the Raffles saphire case. I measured 30.3 on the Raffles Saphire. The lip under the crystal also fits the various acrylic cristals very nicely. Do you have the measures of the lip? The vintage thread is nice. I optet to redrill and retaper a raffles case for a gen crown and tube. some new pics soon ;-)

Finished the case and bezel

All done by hand, I’d guess about 6 hours in total

lug brushing not quite there, I feel like I’ve reached the limit of my ability at this time.

I’m really pleased with the bezel, when I received the case set originally I was a bit deflated as I knew it would bug me if I left as is.

I was worried about an uneven finish resulting in distorted reflections but by using the sanding sticks and taking my time the reflection is distortion free.

Ordered a press tool to put it all back together should be here on Monday,

Got my AliExpress explorer case. Some findings (keep in mind I am in no way an expert on any of this):

- It’s compatible with the Raffles 16200 crown
- It’s not compatible with the Raffles 16200 caseback (Raffles thread pitch is finer)
- Not compatible with gen crown tube removal tool
- Seems to fit Raffles 36mm endlinks fine
- Seems to be made for 2824 stem height

Pic is with Raffles vintage jubilee with 455B end links.

I tried putting in a dial with both a 2824 and a 2836, and only the 2824 seemed to seat properly. The 2836 seemed way off. So I’m guessing this is intended for a 2824.

The caseback seems deeper in the middle than the Raffles 16200 caseback, so I wonder if this case would fit a 3135 better than an unmodified Raffles case. Unfortunately I don’t have a 3135 to test with.

Received Raffles honeycomb dial. Looks good, but a little bit less textured as I expected.
Anyone idears on how to age it without distroying anything ?

I found the dial to have a quite pleasing texture and it is quite crisp and defined .

You can age the lume with paint or dry brushing like I have done in the past on other builds.

wonder how the dial will respond to the coffee bake technique.

I'm afraid of baking it cause at all the dials I used it the writing became dark . So I only think of
a vintage lume at the moment. Hope to see some results of members working on this dial.

Used the crystal press really straightforward (went with the threaded press rather than lever) noticed afterwards the tip of the rehaut had a few nicks which the crystal magnified, took it apart again and used a 1200 paper on a flat surface to take them out.

My dial from HR arrived today my novice eye is pleased with it on the whole

movement is the last piece to get now

Oh, and I forgot to mention that the crown stem doesn't have a spring in it...it is solid.
I received a 1016 case from Raffles and the spring in the crown was also stiff as a board.
Put a stem in there and give her a love tap.(y)
