Cool, could you share a profile photo when you ll mount it?
I draw mine with 34.8mm outer diameter to have a good continuity, as the WSO is 2.4mm , I think the diameter that is in contact will be smaller than needed

Could you check the angle from the top face and the bottom face?

Mine is 90

The news is that I will have a batch soon

I asked for two diameter mixed batch so one bezel will fit t22 and the other t21.
Yes mine is also 90° on the lower part but it also has a very small chamfered edge on the underside so i feel it is negligible for me (for now at least). The underside over all is max 1mm including 90° part + chamfer. ill try to do a better photo tomorrow with my crappy phone

So my WSO bezel arived an it looks very promising.
Shipping to germany was super fast via FedEx but also very expensive.
I made some pictures to compare to the Raffles one and as already mentioned here we might have a winner. I think the WSO might be the best non custom bezel jet.
It is a little wider so less casework that ads a little more "chunky" look but most important: If the ID is widened the bezel gets a little flatter all by itself. And we are talking .5mm hight anyway so i think the WSO should be fine.
I do not really trust my cheapo digital calippers so i added the presumed measuring tolerance to the picture.

These pics and measurements are awesome! Thank you so much for giving a more indepth look. :D I'm happy to hear it's a potential winner!

so... the WSO bezel arrived.
inner diameter: 30.4mm
Height: 2.3mm ~ 2.4mm
IMG-1247.jpg

i suck at photography but the WSO bezel slope is gentler than raffles.
took me about 1.5 hours to grind the inner diameter. but i finally got it installed!
i had to go back and forth with grinding and testing the fit. eventually settled between 30.6mm and 30.7mm for the bezel.
very wide i know, but the crystal measured 30.6mm when installed on the case :(

scratched the crystal during installation though, but i had polywatch lying around, and that did the trick ;)
IMG-1249.jpg

the domed sapphire is decent and i dont have to worry about scratches,
but there is a milky ring around the edges that "eats" away the dial.
T21 all the way!

IMG-1254.jpg

the lugs are bad but i dont really care so this is probably the last mod i'll ever touch, and i'll be reusing the domed sapphire case with another aged 1016 dial that i already have in another case with a less domed sapphire crystal.

big thanks to @369mafia for all the tips for my 1016 journey!

anyway the WSO bezel can be found from other sites as well for wayyyyyyyyyy cheaper shipping.

The WSO + Clarks T21 are defiantly the winning combo It looks identical to my JMB bezel so nice we are able to find an off the shelf solution for this. Nice write up . Happy to help. Hope you got a nice smooth easy install , you know when its just right, it slides on with the right amount of pressure.

Please drop a link for the other sites you were referring to

Sneak tip, if you add the bezel to your shopping cart on ebay and wait for a few days, they send you a discount offer for it. 7% off
His standard shipping to me in Canada is only 5bucks that's reasonable. Canada post did drop their rates recently.

Thanks for sharing these images and your measurements, the T21 in combination with this bezel is fantastic! If possible, could you share a link to the other site… with access to accurate bezels and next-generation tropical dials on the horizon, I think we can look forward to a whole armada of great builds in the coming months 🤗

Just a catch up about the Helenarou Mercedes hands, the minute and second hand are definitely longer...but what is more interesting is that the lume shines up green under white light, but blue under blue/black light.

Not really an issue unless we wander about with an Olight Arkfeld UV light, which is how I picked it. I was using it to set the nano fluid I had applied to the inside and outside of the sapphire crystal.

And I must admit that tonight I could have happily hung the prick who made those wee tiny movement retaining screws.

The hands shew up as a different colour under the camera but shew as the same colour as the dial lume to the naked eye...go figure.

Used an off colour yellow texta that had been used over a light tan texta.

It is my understanding that he was fabricating them from aluminum round bar stock. I was the first to have him fabricate the 6350 bezel from scratch also, as well as the case back engravings.

Thank you to everyone for your knowledge and information! I made a set of notes for myself when I built my 1016 and I hope this information would be helpful for everyone who attempts to build their own 1016 in the future.

This information is also my experience with using an NH38/70 and their derivatives.

Parts & Tools (shopping list):

I typically use dial dots, but I recently ordered this tool so I can mount dial feet onto my dials. I’ll be testing this soon!

Dial feet tool: US $38.00 | Repair dial feet Repair Watch Tools Repair Welding and Bonding Watch dial Table feet Tools

For hands and movements:

Hands:
US $1.99 | For NH36 Green Luminous Watch Hands Needles Three-pin Pointer for NH35 Mechanical Movement

NH38 movement: US $37.95 | Original NH38 Movement Standard NH3 Series Automatic Mechanical Watch Movt Parts Twenty-four Jewels nh38a Japan Imported

Aliexpress links; your YMMV. I suggest using the screenshot feature on Aliexpress to look up these items if the links expire. Prices are typically cheaper from other vendors so feel free to look around!

Ebay & other source items:

WSO bezel was something I accidentally found, but I’m glad it’s gaining traction with the 1016 build space! I can’t wait to see what others may achieve since I’m still a novice regarding these builds. These are the sources I used in the CONUS. If others have better sources outside the CONUs, may you please share them? Thank you!

I’m aiming to build a Space Dweller next!

Raffles Case:
https://rafflesdials.com/rolex-sign...-or-nh35-36-movement-and-dial-in-28-0-29-0mm/

Build experience:

Using the NH38/70 (NH35 works too) and Seiko movements felt forgiving. I didn't mess up the keyless works and it is difficult to do so. The stem release button hides when it’s in the wrong position. The movement is built like a tank and I highly recommend it for those who are starting their first build. Winding feels smooth and doesn’t become difficult to wind when at full power unlike the 2824 clones I used in the past.

Additionally, the internals of a 1016 build will be one piece. The NH movement fits a Raffles case perfectly. This movement is great because you don’t need movement mounting clamps and everything comes out as one piece. This convenience makes the case easy to service when you need to swap a crystal, bezel, or case reshape.

Pressing the modified WSO bezel (expanding ID required) was easy with a dremel / rotary tool! ID sizes will vary so measure and check your ID as you expand it. IE: My SK crystals measured at 30.7mm OD while my Clarks measured at 30.6mm OD. This caused me to crack all my SK crystals since I didn’t measure them and assumed they’re the same as Clarks. Oops! Take your time and sand by hand at the end to make things smooth. 😉

I recently switched to a T22 crystal which has an OD of 31.1mm, so I expanded the bezel's ID to 30.9mm to accommodate it.

Overall, I found this to be an enjoyable project! Thank you to everyone in this thread for passing on helpful knowledge. I wouldn’t be able to make it this far without this awesome community’s help. 🙂 Cheers and I can't wait to be inspired by the awesome work everyone puts forth!

I was also thinking of the option of using the dial feet tool to mount new dial feet for NH38 but I have 10 thumbs

Good to know that the NH movement is a drop in replacement with the raffles case!

I see you use the grey spacer - I find it to be a tight fit, and needs a bit of sandpaper…. did you have the same experience? I believe in my notes I have a link to a plastic spacer which allow the use of case clamps… I’ll see if I can dig it up to add to the body of knowledge in this thread… I also prefer a NH38, mine is dead on accurate, forgiving of my fumbling, and has both hacking and no ghost data… I am going to revert my ETA2840 build back to an NH in the near future.

Hey, arrived some 7836 here, I am not a big fan of the endlink that came with, Don t if they are bad done or if the 358 is not for explorer case, can t have both spring bar in place, one OK, the other is not fitting, but I find a good addition to the 1016 look. Have some aging to do 😅

This info is new to me! I didn’t have experience with issues using the grey spacer. I’m using a case from early 2022, so I wonder if that’s the reason.

The case clamp & spacer combo is cool to know! I imagine it feels more secure once it’s all assembled in the case.

Also no worries! The more info and perspectives the better. I look forward to your NH conversion in the near future! :)
