Thank you to everyone for your knowledge and information! I made a set of notes for myself when I built my 1016 and I hope this information would be helpful for everyone who attempts to build their own 1016 in the future.
This information is also my experience with using an NH38/70 and their derivatives.
Parts & Tools (shopping list):
I typically use dial dots, but I recently ordered this tool so I can mount dial feet onto my dials. I’ll be testing this soon!

Aliexpress links; your YMMV. I suggest using the screenshot feature on Aliexpress to look up these items if the links expire. Prices are typically cheaper from other vendors so feel free to look around!
Ebay & other source items:
WSO bezel was something I accidentally found, but I’m glad it’s gaining traction with the 1016 build space! I can’t wait to see what others may achieve since I’m still a novice regarding these builds. These are the sources I used in the CONUS. If others have better sources outside the CONUs, may you please share them? Thank you!
I’m aiming to build a Space Dweller next!

Build experience:
Using the NH38/70 (NH35 works too) and Seiko movements felt forgiving. I didn't mess up the keyless works and it is difficult to do so. The stem release button hides when it’s in the wrong position. The movement is built like a tank and I highly recommend it for those who are starting their first build. Winding feels smooth and doesn’t become difficult to wind when at full power unlike the 2824 clones I used in the past.
Additionally, the internals of a 1016 build will be one piece. The NH movement fits a Raffles case perfectly. This movement is great because you don’t need movement mounting clamps and everything comes out as one piece. This convenience makes the case easy to service when you need to swap a crystal, bezel, or case reshape.
Pressing the modified WSO bezel (expanding ID required) was easy with a dremel / rotary tool! ID sizes will vary so measure and check your ID as you expand it. IE: My SK crystals measured at 30.7mm OD while my Clarks measured at 30.6mm OD. This caused me to crack all my SK crystals since I didn’t measure them and assumed they’re the same as Clarks. Oops! Take your time and sand by hand at the end to make things smooth.
I recently switched to a T22 crystal which has an OD of 31.1mm, so I expanded the bezel's ID to 30.9mm to accommodate it.
Overall, I found this to be an enjoyable project! Thank you to everyone in this thread for passing on helpful knowledge. I wouldn’t be able to make it this far without this awesome community’s help.
Cheers and I can't wait to be inspired by the awesome work everyone puts forth!
