Think to go for unimat emco sl, with thé milling option, that s a mess for sur to find a good exemplarYep. Perfectly good - a nice balance between torque and "feel- feedback" through the tools - providing everything is solid and held rigidly. So that comes down to making sure the Unimat you buy is absolutely top notch - or can be restored to such.
I was very, very lucky in that mine was brand new in box. I say brand new for something that was made in 1966 !
The SL and the Unimat 3 both will go to a Milling config - as well as lots of other things. See here for some info:Think to go for unimat emco sl, with thé milling option, that s a mess for sur to find a good exemplar
I always do method one.Guys
I am still struggling on how to size that viet rivet bracelet I bought some time ago.
I was suggested two methods
1. To bend the center links
2. To remove the rivets
I have a hard time doing 1.
I can’t figure out what tool to use
And 2. I don’t know how to open rivets without trashing them
Also - get in to the habit of using "soft jaws" on any tools you're brigning in to contact with visible areas of the watch/ strap/ work. Copper works best - whether on the vice, pliers, screwdriver, anything. Get hold of an old piece of 15mm plumbing pipe and with some snips you can cut and bend it in to shape to fit whatever you're using for the task. That way you won't mark the stainless steel and leave ugly gouges or scratches.I always do method one.
flat screw driver or pin or razor to pry up the center link and then use a flat screw driver to open wider.
bend back using protection over your plyers. then tap with a hammer and wood drift to flatten metal back to shape. IT will be deformed a bit .
There is no way to remove a rivet without destroying it. single use only.
So I've finally got round to a simple 1016 project. The starting point is a complete Raffles set.
The movement is a serviced and slightly modified A2824.
The set is ok, but doesn't really convince me. What would be the next steps to get more out of it?
Very satisfactory as it is.

Which crystal do you guys would prefer on such a build?
