Bought all the parts for a 36mm Air-King 14000

Just fell in love with the dial. Not entirely accurate in terms of case size but good enough for government work. Seagull ST2130 and a 2801 setting lever jumper on the way as well 🙌
One of my all time favorites, and my first Gen was a silver dialed 1002 Air King.

I never understood why AKs are called 'entry level' Rolex watches by many who wear high $$ models. The AK has a long history and has earned classic status.

My nos 36mm 'AK' is 9 posts down along with a genuine 34mm 14000M for comparison. The replica looks much better in hand than it does in the pic.
I was 'jimmythree' starting out on RWGcc in 2007 and changed to 'automatico' during a server meltdown.

Two AK 14010M and the 14000M, first post:

You can’t ruin a Raffles dial 😂
They are made from the same material as a Nokia 3310
Apparently, there is some amount of heat that will shrink the black font on the white dial.
It was my first attempt at aging dials, an dkind of overdid it.

i destroyed a rep constellation dial attempting to give it a tarnish.

Who knew that suncream had solvents in it that are potent enough to undo glue.
The applied incides just flew off.

Speaking of constellation, this is the next one I will make (with proper aging)

I am going to try a new trick to taint « silver »
