My lab has a dry-oven (just a heat chamber used to dry things). I put my dial in a jar with water to create a closed humid environment (dial/hands on a platform so it’s not actually submerged in water).

You can do the same thing by putting them in a kitchen oven at low heat with a pot of water - but it’d probably be expensive electricity bill.
it's fine. I will do it while I am cooking 😂

Stumbled across this at lunch on IG

My spider sense tells me its from Vietnam ??
🤷🏻‍♂️
Ive never seen it in red before -ever
Did they do that? I know that early into production of a new model, they'd use red ink, but I always thought that the Cartier and Tiffany models were sort of a special production run of an existing model, not something the factory would recognize as "new."

24 hours in humidity chamber at 80’C.
First picture is straight out of the oven.
Second picture is after wiping the gunk off and re-drying it.

I will put it back under UV light for a day and see if it does anything now that it’s been humidity treated.

When you say gunk what do you think that is? chemicals leaching from the dial or possibly minerals , etc in the steam building up on the dial?

The “gunk” was limited to just around the lume. So it is probably lume coating/chemicals or something.
Plus, i used distilled water so shouldnt really be minerals

I'm worried about how you are going to clean up that precipitate (melted lume?) from around the indices.
Did you do this at a slightly too high temp?

Otherwise, I like the effect overall.

he could CapeCod it out.
Then do the matte varnish drop finish to retexture the dial
