Spent most of my night working on dials, trying to dial in the process. I made some improvements on the Everest dial, fixed the font of some of the numbers (especially the "4") and made the crown look more like the original.

Very close on the Everest model, just need to tweak a few more things. This is the best of tonight's batch, with a little weathering to see how the dial takes different methods:

Also did some 34mm dials, trying to see if I can improve on Raffles' "Commando" dial, and some variations on the 5500 Explorer.

I work in a laboratory where i have access to a 254nm UV-C sterilization light.

I have a sterile Raffles build that i don’t wear too often so i thought i might try and see if UV exposure will age the dial/hands a bit.

I removed the movement from the case since the acrylic crystal will 100% yellow/crack under UV light.

It’s been 3 days so far under UV-C, and no noticeable changes yet. Even the lume is still perfectly functioning.

I’ll leave it for a week more and update.

Excellent. We now have live experimentation going on on the 1016 Thread.
Keen to see how this turns out.

The world will be in serious trouble if any of us find a supply of fissionable material, as we wouldn't be able to help ourselves...but boy, wouldn't our lume light up the night!

I have a lot of UV lights for my aquariums, both the overhead lights (corals need a certain wavelength of light) and a UV sterilizer that the water in the filter passes by. I tried this and didn't notice any changes after a couple weeks. I think that what we're trying to do is replicate the actual sun, which is WAY more powerful than this type of equipment, plus shorten several decades of nearly constant UV exposure (in some cases) to a few days/weeks/months. I'm sure it's doable, but more than likely there's a VERY small window between accelerating the aging and burning the dial.

But please post your results if they're positive, it's well worth exploring differerent methods.

There was a local (to me) kid that made a nuke out of smoke detectors...maybe something to explore there as well...

was looking for some cheap 5513 cases and found this, looks like raffles is on ebay too lol
Yes, some of the other forums refer to them as "Riyi cases" referring to the Raffles/Ebay cases. On Ebay, however, he only sells sterile models, so no caseback engraving or Rolex crowns with the Ebay ones.

I've heard you can ask him when you complete the sale just encode it; like 'RLX" please or "TUD", etc.

I ordered the "5500" dial from Raffles, which is the wrong size for a 5500 (it's 28.5mm, for the 36mm case, rather than 27mm, for their 34mm case). I was going to reduce the diameter to fit in a 34mm case for a "5500 Explorer" project I'm working on.*

A little research shows that there was a 5504, which used the dial for the 5500 Explorer ("Precision" or "Super Precision" instead of "OCC" or "SCOC") in a 36mm case, so now I'm adding one of those to the queue, lol. Kind of an oddball watch, that you don't see every day (although .001% of watch afficionados would even notice the slightly different dial text).

*short version: I have a soft spot for 34mm watches, have a gen Air King 1002, and wanted to build a 5500 Explorer. I had a 5500 gen case, and wound up with a couple more, and dials from Mochacha and Yuki, so ordered the Raffles version and made a few of my own from scratch, so planning on building them all up to compare side by side, and will post a bunch of photos when I'm done.

Pre-RWI, in 2019 I had a 1002, which I modded using a Yuki dial. That hooked me, and a few years later I discovered RWI and slid the slippery slope ;)

That's interesting that Precision dial. I've got a "Transition" dial between that and Superlative Chronometer with the same 3,6 & 9.
Problem is: I don't think there was a transition or at least they didn't carry that style of rounded 3,6 & 9 to the Chronometer ones without a Chapter Ring.
