Well, despite what @Caboose says 😁
the Explorer 39mm got me into the 1016.
If I had bought a Sub 124060 as initially planned, my rep journey would have probably stopped there.

I initially had the BP which was great.
I sold it and bought the CF. It's just spectacularly good. I had a gen in hand, and it easily competes in looks.

And I know your struggle. I am also tempted to buy the 36mm. The 39mm is a big watch with that face. It matches the 5513 but is heavier with the solid links bracelet. With much more presence.

It does look really, really good.

Too big for my littel ballerina wrist though.

They do a 36mm right?
I'm struggling not to buy this;

I never paid much attention to watch sizes. They were either "Dressy" (which I now understand is 34-36mm), "Sporty" (40-42mm) or "Oversized" (over 44mm). There was some overlap, depending on how a watch wears, but that was how I looked at them.

Since getting back into watches, and becoming more familiar with sizes, I'm now a bit pickier. I love a 34-36mm as an everyday watch, a 40-44mm occasionally, for a more sporty look, and a huge block of PAM when I want something bigger (rare, but they do make the rotation).

I'm 6' and about 180-200lbs, depending on what time of year it is, and my wrist is ~7.5"/19cm for context.

That said, I recently picked up a 39mm OP that I absolutely LOVE. I was looking out for a nice, used Clean Explorer, but now I can't decide between the 36mm or 39mm. It's not traditional for the Explorer, but it's a damn nice size.

Ultimately, I'm sure I'll wind up with both, lol.

just bought this for experiment.
I like the water color technique but the spill over bothers me, and the furniture spray technique does not really work out for me.

From what I read, this leaves a film that creates a reserve area. so you can really target a clean painting of the lume plots.

I just had an idea , this would help me with my tropical dial side project. apply over the lume and then I can apply the spray finishes and then rub to remove . I may have to pick some up

I saw it listed on Ali
and the marker says "made in china"

😅

so much for a french brand
I just found it on Ali Its only a dollar or so cheaper than amazon and its 40% off on ali.
I would get it quicker on amazon than ali I think Ill buy the jar and apply with an oiler , although using the pen would be ideal but you indicated that the tip wasn't very precise

I'm planning to paint the lume of the Raffles dial, and I'm not sure if it will dye well like the hands. I neatly applied orange with watercolor on the hands' lume, but I wonder if it's possible on the dial.

it is possible. I just did it
But I don't love it. It's hard to get the density of the paint right and hence get clean lines

I will also try the Tamiya dry weathering

Bivintage is on ebay...I paid for a case and waited 28 days for the prick to send, when I started hounding him for a refund he did everything he could to wriggle out of it...up to and including sending me pictures of the case and serial number another member has been posting recently.

If you look at his feedback you will see where I left feedback for the horrible little scrote.

Deal with that one at your own risk.
UPDATE ON POST!

My daughter just purchased a 1016 case set from Bivintage and had no issues. I am posting this change to his ebay feedback and my post to ensure fairness.

Fair is fair.
