Back in the day, the advertising text could have been "We built the Rolex Datejust because after a long day of climbing, you might want to slip out of the Rolex Explorer and into something more relaxing. This is the watch we engineered for the laid-back places. Raffles carves its case out of a single block of stainless steel, which we drill for 2mm spring bars and an Athaya crown and tube. We fit it with a superlative NH38 quick set date movement with Raffles DWO, Sternkreutz crystal, Raffles long pinion ETA hands, and Raffles Oyster bracelet. Only then do we deem it worthy of a Gen dial and bezel."
A work in progress, I slapped it together today, and I'll "check the accuracy of its 24Jewel movement for 15 days and 15 nights". If it passes, I'll take it apart, do the final casework, lube the gaskets, and prepare for summer!
